While working remotely from home, I have been ordered to begin using either Geopac and/or Openroads to use as my primary Civil Package with Microstation to produce my Residential Street plan and profiles with. Both software's were purchased in 2017 and was loaded onto my machine but never used. The program I was using up until 3 weeks ago is no longer supported and not possible to update. This past 3 weeks I have fumbled around to try to figure out on my own how to produce a Residential Street Plan and Profile and can't seem to figure out if it is even possible. I spent 2 weeks with Geopac and was able to produce an existing ground profile along with a key-ed in proposed vertical alignment with all the required labels but that was about as far as I could take it. Then I spent a week on Openroads and was able to station my alignment but that was about it there. I am beginning to wonder if I even have the latest versions of either software or if the versions I have are even complete. There are yet a lot of things to figure out yet to see if either these software's will do what I need for my final product. And I've about exhausted all my online sources. I am new to the Bentley Community but I have used microstation for 30 years since it was called Intergraph. Any help would be appreciated as to where I need to go or who I need to contact to see if I have the latest packages and to weather either package can produce what we need as a final product. Or to where I would need to go to obtain the manuals needed to learn these software's better. I'm sure Covid has stopped all in-person training in my area or that would be another option. I would sure like to remain on microstation since I've worked it for so long for I would be forced to join the AutoCAD Civil 3D gang if I am unable to produce.
The full product versions are as follow:
PowerGEOPAK_08.11.09.878
Openroads Designer Connect Edition (downloaded 9-22-2017)
Microstation V8i (select series 4)
I have yet to figure out how to:
1. Place offset existing grade profiles 25' left and right
2. Create a custom corridor and run a design along my proposed vertical alignment
3. Create a proposed surface "contours" from the ran corridor
4. In which would lead to figuring out how to calculate earthwork between my existing and proposed surfaces for a final product.
Any help to where would be a good place for me to begin would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Jones
