I am trying to use the "Plan by 3D element" command on a line string, I have created in the Default-3D model, but it does not work properly.
It does create a complex element in the Default model but does not create an active profile and show it in the Default-3D model.
I am following the steps as shown in this video:
If I open a profile view, I can see the profile, but I can't make it active.
If I make a simple line in the profile view, I can't make that active either.
I therefore cannot add a linear template to the line.
I have tried with both OpenRoads Designer and OpenRail Designer. Inside Projectwise with project specific data (workspace + existing terrain + corridor) and outside on my local drive with a standard Bentley workspace (Training and Examples, Metric) and a sample set from a Bentley Workshop.
I have had a colleague try to create it on a different computer with the same result.
I am using ORD 2018 Release 3 Update 5 – Version 10.05.00.30
When I select the button (bucket) "corridor objects", I can see all the objects in the corridor.
In some of the objects we can export/import the settings.
Is it possible to export and import all the corridor settings? So I can use that file as a template/input file and as a kind of a report to check all the values?
It would be great!!
thanks!
I am using MX ss4 v8i (openroads), while working on vertical geometry I am getting only a vertical line (as shown in the profile view above) even though the topo triangulation is covering full extent of the alignment. I have already made the terrain as active. do any one know reason and what will be the solution to it
Hi
I am trying to create a civil cell and all the help material is either from Power Geopak or Inroads. I followed the Videos by kevin point by point but when i try to create the civil cell it just pick the external references such as Road Eop and secondry road Center line and shows the civil cell in Explorer but when i click the dependents elements it cannot be expanded. Moreover when i try to drop the civil cell , no civil cell show up so i delete it from the explorer.Although when i try to place the civil cell no error message pop up and command is executed but nothing show up in 3D.
Again if i try to recreate it gives error messages that no elements are embedded by the civil cell.
We are waiting for the 2019 Version of ORD but watching the videos from the Power Geopak and Inroads which is justified if nothing is changed regarding civil cell creation.
if there is any latest tutorial regarding the Civil cell design kindly inform.
Using ORD 2018, Release 4, Update 6

As my company transitions from Geopak to Openroads, we are figuring out how to do everything in Openroads that we could in Geopak. In Geopak we were able to create a profile from text using the Geopak Cogo Command Editor and then using the Design and Computation Manager to draw in into MicroStation as a line string with VPI text labels. I am sure there is an easy way to do this in Openroads, but cannot find the correct command. What is the best way to create a profile from stationing and elevation text? Thanks for the help!

Corridor Modeling and Active Profile Question: I don’t know how to say this simply so here is a description of the problem.
I’m using SS4 and have a long alignment (6 miles). The project is generally an overlay with some spot profile improvements. The spot profile improvements are independent of each other because they all tie back to the existing profile. Each spot profile improvement has multiple alternates. All of these ex and pr profiles are associated with one horizontal alignment. The horizontal alignment is referenced to several different corridor models.
How do I assign a different profile to the different corridor models when I reference the same horizontal alignment file and can only have one active profile?
I’m thinking I would have to either create a separate horizontal alignment file or use a point control in the template.
Is there a way to change the Linear Geometry Element Description after it has been created? It is currently grayed out as shown below.
I am trying to import roadways into my project using GeoCoordination. It successfully downloads the content but never imports into my file. I have let the program run for hours upon hours and it continues to say importing but does nothing. Any suggestions on what to do to solve my issue?
现在我通过无人机得到了osgb文件,而且现在具有道路设计图纸,我可以在通过无人机+CC软件处理得到的三维实景中建道路模型吗? 谢谢您
David Settlemyer stated in the 2018 conference Opensite Keynote video that 80% of project time budget goes into producing the plan documents. I agree with that assessment. He also said the goal of Opensite is to transpose the time budget to be 80% design, 20% plan production. I would like to see how Opensite addresses that problem.
I have A LIDAR .XYZ file that I have converted into a POD file using point cloud 'convert'. I then attached the file using 'attach' in MXROADS select series 3 it attaches the file to the DGN file and displays it. In MXROADS select series 4 the programme tells me the POD file is 2D. Has anyone else had the same problem with series 4?
Hi,
I have two questions regarding profiles in OpenRoads:
Hello all,
I am having an issue with using certain cells as patterns in my files. I have attached the Patterns file with the cells in question, as well as our 2D Seed file to see if anyone can replicate my issue or see what may be going wrong. For whatever reason the Dots and Earth cells can not be used to pattern areas as far as we can tell. We can however use the RipRap, FM and CA files to pattern areas. Has anyone encountered this or know what may be going wrong?
Thanks,
-Daniel T. Warren

I am attempting to draw buildings in 3D for a project. They're bare bones but I am looking for a way to extrude the solid I make to the surface I have in my file, currently they are extruded below the surface and it doesn't look the best
Hi, In open Road Designer I am producing Profile drawings from the drawing production function.
I have more than one Vertical alignment for the same Horizontal, but only one Vertical is set as Active. Is there a way, without deleting any vertical alignment, to show only the active profile in the profile sheet and not all of them?
Thank you in advance
Vera
Hello
MY ORD crashes during surface or linear template drop. The same file work on other colleagues workstations always every time and checked many times but crashes when i try to drop a linear or surface template on my workstation . The first thought was to reinstall the ORD again and check but had no success so updated the workstation to an advanced one (Thinkpad P52), but still when i try to drop a surface or linear template during Intersection and civil cell design , the software crashes. Any help would be really appreciated.
I am using ORD 2018 release 4.
