PowerCivil SS4 Workspace

Hi,

I am relatively new to this software and I wanted to have my workspace (User and Projects) in a different location than the default.

After followed all the steps shown at LEARN (https://learn.bentley.com/app/VideoPlayer/LinkToIndividualCourse?LearningPathID=109983&CourseId=115796&MediaID=5007190),  everytime I try to create a Project or User, the program points to \ProgramData\Bentley\PowerInRoads V8i (SELECTseries 4)\WorkSpace\ and I cannot find a way to change it, even though I created the .cfg file that points to my custom workspace.

I tried to look up here but I am unable to find an answer.

Transit from Openroad Technology models SS4 to OpenRoad Designer Concept station

Hi Team, 

Can someone guide me on how to use/edit the models/dgn's which are created using OpenRoad Technology(SS4) to OpenRoad Designer concept station???

If this can be done, can you share the workflow and things to be consider during transition stage?

InRoads had a tool to locate a point by various methods (direction/direction; direction/distance; station/alignment; etc.). Is this tool available in OpenRoads Designer?

We are using OpenRoads Designer 10.7.0.56 2019 Update 1. Have a corridor with basic template. The existing Terrain model have been created with a DEM file in TIFF format. So far everything is good. We can see the cull and fill volume in the dynamic cross section window and have all the quantities when using the Corridor report component quantities.

We are trying to get the Mass Haul Diagram from that corridor. We are using the interval method. Even if ORD takes time to calculate, the report have 0 volumes and the diagram shows no profile. 

The Civil Analysis is pretty simple........

The feature definition for the existing terrain, corridor and meshes are set properly. Existing and Design.

The feature definition for the diagram if the one from ORD metric workspace.

Why does the diagram won't show....

ORD - Adding a driveway civil cell

I am adding a driveway civil to my proposed corridor. Only my back edge of driveway is located OUTSIDE the proposed corridor boundary. This is yielding strange results with the proposed corridor. Anything OUTSIDE of the Proposed Corridor when clipped goes to elevation ZERO. How can I fix this problem? Do I need to get the Back edge of the driveway into the Proposed Corridor? Yes, there is a profile on the back edge of the driveway set to the existing ground elevations.

OpenRoads Designer Cannot Load Dialog Error Message

It would be nice if someone would make these error message go away. They are being generated by leftover cruft from SS4 in various DGNLIB files used for GUI/ .  If you review these various dgnlib files you will find many entries under tasks which have broken links.

I found some of them in CifCommands.dgnlib, which reduced the message count from 8 warnings to 5. But I have been unable to locate the others.  The warnings are probably harmless except for the generated phone calls when someone interprets the messages as "The world is on fire".

[ORD 2018R4] Enhancement Request - Annotation Group Management Utility

Good Morning,

I'm working on doing some fine tuning on our workspace and realized that there is not currently a utility to convert Annotation Group XML files to Excel, similar to the other migration utilities. It would be helpful to have such a converter, as I could hide columns and verify settings in several different Annotation Groups that should be similar (specifically Plan Annotation between different alignments). Also, I could do lookups to ensure that my Feature Symbologies are linked to my Annotation Groups via VLOOKUPS, much like I do with the other links between Feature Definitions, Feature Symbologies, Element Templates, and the Level Library. Currently, I'm using the snip tool and comparing line by line. Another possible option would be to use a program like Beyond Compare (which I just realized and will likely be requesting from IT after posting this). If anyone knows a more efficient mechanism to accomplish this or if there is a VBA utility out there, please let me know!

I'm doing some of the Bentley Power InRoads training.  One of the modules I was hoping to go through is "Overlay, Striping & Widening"?  All the lectures are available but no downloads that would contain the "practice workbook and the needed dgn files.  Do you know where I might find them?  Thanks

[ORD 2019R1] Release Notes and Workspace Update Notes

Good Afternoon,

I saw this afternoon that 2019R1 was released last week. I've gotten the release notes from the help file, but can someone post the Workspace Updates PDF for 2019 Release 1 which is typically located at:

C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE\Configuration\Organization-Civil

Additionally, could there be any consideration of including this in the Help File under the Readme? This helps evaluate level of effort of upgrading for us.

Civil Cell creates extra pavement

Hi,

I've successfully created a simple driveway civil cell, and I've placed it at various points along a corridor and it's been working so far. However, on one occasion, the cell seems to want to connect the end points together, and it's creating an extra piece of pavement (see below). Does anyone know what may be off?

Transform alignments and terrain in ORD

As often as not, when designing a site, buildings move, get larger etc.

I have a site that I want to rotate 1 degree ccw form a point.  Is there an easy way to do this in ORD?  in SS2, I would create a preference and do it using transform.  My building outlines were all done using alignments, I offset to get the opposite sides and then made it into a complex and then ran a template around the outside.  My site has multiple buildings, plus the buildings are growing.  The growing buildings are no problem, moving and rotating the site is.

Do you have any suggestions as to an easy way to do this, rather than start over.  Relocating the original alignments that I used to create the buildings is not working. 

I am using ORD 2018 release 3.

end condition warping - mainlane and driveway

I want to warp the end conditions at the driveways as smooth as sketched in the image.

Things I know-

  • At the seam line, I will use display rules to turn off the mainlane end conditions.
  • I've also used use target aliasing and corridor clipping.

Things I need to know -

"How to smoothen both the end conditions, so it is seen as real"!

Experts guidance is highly appreciated.

[ORD U7} Asset Management items problem

Hi,

my goal is to assign Items to Feature Definitions in DGNLib which are uploaded from Asset management.xlsm file. So in that case later when I create corridor I can set item properties from pick lists with connection to ...Lookup.xlsx. Everything works fine in DGNLib but in every other file which loads Feature Definitions from library it crashes at moment of creating corridor (assigning Item). I know it's still Technology preview but maybe someone have a solution. Maybe there is some variable which loads Asset Management.xlsm? I have knowledge only about variable for Lookup which, of course, I am using.
