How to Set up Unsuitable Materials based on Designed Terrain instead of Existing Terrain
I try to set unsuitable materials referenced to designed terrain model instead of existing terrain in End-Area Volumes. Although I edited settings of unsuitable material's feature from existing terrain to design it is still the same.
I would like to make unsuitable materials are based on designed corridor model lie below the picture:

Cross sections don't match DTM
I am having an issue with my cross sections not matching my dtm created in corridor modeler in ss3 in areas of horizontal curvature. My template drops are run at 5' intervals and I'm only plotting at 100' so that is not my issue. I have confirmed that the breaklines of the dtm look correct throughout the corridor.

[SS4] .NET exception at rdLink_SetFirstCorridorCrossSectionView
I have very little geometry in the file I'm working with at the moment. Just corridors, and not very refined. I think all I have in these corridors are template drops and parametric constraints. I'd been looking at plenty of cross sections. I applied a couple new parametric constraints. When on the dynamic cross section view, I skipped back to the beginning of the alignment, I got this error stack:

New Blog Post - New version of MVBA to create element templates from levels in a dgn file
I've added a new Blog post - New version of MVBA to create element templates from levels in a dgn file with a zip file download. The original VBA project wrote Element Templates using the Level Name as the Element Template Name. I revised to to use the level Description instead and also added filters to strip off any levels coming only from an attached DGNLIB and to skip the Default level. I did not filter out levels that have no descriptions, however.
For anyone starting to use OpenRoads and having few element templates, this is one way to build a quick collection of them.

Powergeopak 08.11.09.878 we are having issues with our aerail images showing up.
Ever since we upgraded to Powergeopak 08.11.09.878 we are having issues with our aerail images showing up. We have the tifs attached to a reference file. When that file is attached, everything shows up, but more times than not, when a file is opened those images do not show up. We can detach the reference file and re-attach is they show up, but once you leave the file and come back same issue. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution.

Detach Terrains in SS4
I am a new-ish SS4 user. I have completed one project in SS4 and am starting my second. It is a 20 mile widening project. I ended up with multiple terrains in my design file and am unable to remove/detach them. My corridor is running slow, which I expected, so I planned to split it into more than one corridor, but I want to clean it up before doing that. Can you direct me to the correct tools to detach terrains?
Do you have a recommended strategy to manage files with this length of project? My end conditions are simple. I am hoping to use just 2 corridors, each 10 miles long. Would reducing the limits of my terrain help?
BTW, I am unable to ask a question when using firefox.

true hell with Powercivil SS4
All day, I just restart the program, which still crashes and reports a number of bugs. Reopen the program, click on the first line, change the definition, and again the out of memory error. I Can not move with geometry, everything reports bugs. I deleted all reference files and remain only 15MB large file, but without effect, nothing can still be done. Of course, the system has 90% of free memory. Ok I delete all parametric constraints (often cause mistakes) and finally something can be done, i can move with geometry again! But parametric constraints can no longer be imported back, or create new ones, all causes errors, only open menu objects of the corridor causes a error (out od memory)... I can start making a corridor from the beginning again and hope it will not happen again!! Is there a user who is satisfied with Powercivil SS4, especially in the Czech Republic? So for me, buying this malfunctioning program is a terrible mistake and I hope this is my last work with this program. If anyone is considering buying this program, it's a clear madness.

[PIR SS4] problems opening InRoads drawings with Microstation?
We seem to be running into issues with Power InRoads SS4. One of them, it would appear, is that any file created and used by SS4 cannot be opened with plain MicroStation (SS3); when that happens, the file is corrupted and SS4 no longer works correctly. And I don't mean that we're using MicroStation to make any changes to elements or geometry. Simply opening and closing the file (due to MicroStation's automatic saving) is enough to trash a design file.
Is this so? Is this a known issue? Is there a version of MicroStation that is compatible with IR SS4 that WON'T corrupt the drawings?
The simplest answer would be to have SS4 on everyone's computer, but we are somewhat limited on licenses and know how. There are quite a few project managers who don't want to be bothered with the full design software - they just want to be able to get into a file and look at a few things, measure a few things...draw a few lines here and there. They are not power users, they are not users, they are dabblers, and don't understand much about how the software works.
Is there any way to 'lock" a project so that it can only be opened by a specific version of the software? We have project configurations that control and direct these projects, but that assumes that everyone knows the "right" way to open a file, and which configuration to use (see previous paragraph). I know there used to be a way to prevent files from opening from Windows Explorer by means of a start-up macro, but does that even work, now that MicroStation BASIC has gone to the old tar pits?
Or is there some other cause and solution to this problem that I don't know about?

OR SS4 ?? - Linear templates select as components - can't apply point controls?
OR SS4 - While creating and point controlling linear templates, some (not all) of my templates now select as components rather then templates. Therefore, can't apply point controls. Anyone experienced/fixed this issue?

Proposed cross section in project manger
I am trying to create a proposed cross section for a ramp and frontage road and have been using a GEOPAK manual to help me through it (I am very new to this). When I insert the information into "shape clusters" and click "Typical" I receive an error stating this: "Unable to locate Cell Library: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\PowerGEOPAK V8i (SELECTSeries 4)\PowerGEOPAK\Civil\samples\road\typicalSections\projects\basics\typicals.cel". I was directed by a coworker to try to change the cell library to the one that I want to use but this did not resolve the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Level Overrides in MOTIF
How is a motif setup to display the level overrides? The I have set the view attributes to level overrides, in level manager the reference file has Symbology set to Overrides, in the reference manager the display overrides have been set to Always, presentation has Level Overrides set. Settings have been saved in dgn file. When file is reopened the colors are all reset to original settings. What am I missing?

OpenRoads Designer - Surface selection with non-triangulated features only
I have a surface that contains features only (non-triangulated). I am attempting to add it as a corridor reference so that I can set a style constraint in my templates. When I go to add the surface as a corridor reference, it prompts me to select the surface. Since the surface does not include any triangles, the surface is not selectable. So I figured I would add a boundary to the surface... but when I went into the surface and attempted to add a boundary, it prompts me to select the surface. I am unable to select the surface once again. Am I missing something obvious? It seems that there should be an option to select a surface from a list if the surface is not selectable. Any help is appreciated.

Working With Two Different Triangulation in same input File

I am working on a project and I am stuck up with something.
What I have to do is, make a input file which will use two different Tria (one the main and other 3m just below the main Tria), conditions for filling is simple just 1:2 slope filling, the tricky part is the cutting. I have to check if Cutting is more than 5 or not. If it's less than 5 then I want a small Utility on Left or Right and then join it with the ground, If the cutting is more than 5m than i want to have step cutting pattern repeating it self upto the lower Tria and After that with the Main Tria match it with the Ground in 1:1 Slope.

This input file seems to work okay but the Earth work in plan do not look very good and also the transition between IA string is also bad. Can you Help me do this in some other way or improve my input file.

Horizontal Best Fit Alignment - Error 429
I used the tool "Design > Best Fit Alignment > Horizontal string". I selcted "add all points" in the "Add Option Field". I selected the survey string . The points are displayed. When i click the "create Best Fit" button, i Get "Error 429 - ActiveX component cant create object". This happens to every string, Model, project. Can any one please help in sorting it out. I am using MX SS3.

How can you apply a state's standards for superelevation to InRoads most effectively? Creation of .sup, manual entry of calcuted points, etc
I have the state DOT standards for superelevation and understand how to calculate all the needed information for the curves, but I am new to InRoads and would like to know the most effective way to apply these standards to the software platform. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

GEOPAK SS4 Crashes when SUE nodes are selected
I have been working regularly with SUE in this file for about 3 months, and did not have any issues until last Friday when GEOPAK crashed when I selected SUE nodes. I can click on any other item in the file, including SUE links and edit normally. I can also place and manipulate new SUE node - only the existing nodes cause the crash. I have not been able to work with the SUE since this started - any suggestions are very much appreciated.
I tried to attach an example file, but kept getting an error on this site. To attach the example file, I created a copy of the original then stripped out most information. However, even with most information deleted, the file size didn't change. Maybe this is linked with the crash?

Where is the preference file setting located for Corridor Modeler in SS4? I cannot seem to find where I can load the state specific xin file.
