Displaying alignment information in cross sections in PowerGEOPAK SS4 WITHOUT Ancillary Features

With Bentley's continued push to remove all legacy tools, there are still missing elements that require detailed explanation on what their SS4 equivalent function is.

One in particular - Ancillary Features.

Ancillary features is a great (while soon to be obsolete) tool to extract key data from Alignments stored in the GPK, such as:

Alignment name, profile elevation, intersecting station, etc.

Does anyone know of a way to change the element template of the cross-section settings in a linear feature that will report the following in a neat cell:

Alignment name, intersecting elevation (from active profile), and intersecting station?

Basically I am looking for an annotative cell that will be called up in an element template, that corresponds to the cross section settings of a linear feature, and will display the data of the alignment it is part of.

Inconvenient Crossections Appeared After Using Overlay/Stripping

Hello

I have problem creating unsuitable materials in crossections. If it is cut, depth from the existing terrain is 50cm, if it is fill, depth from the existing terrain is 30cm. I set "Overlay/Stripping" command according to this rule and I tested the template it looks OK. However some of cross sections are lack of hunsuitable materials's dept like this picture:

Is there any way to fix the problem?

GEOPAK SS4 - Create Cross Sections Functionality

Is there a version of OpenRoads GEOPAK SS4 without create cross sections capability? When I open GEOPAK regardless of being in a DOT or native workspace I cannot even make up a new preference and save it let alone point to an xin to open. Even if I accept the default settings the display of the sections is just temporary and not working for plan production.

Raster Referencing in incorrect location

I am trying to reference a .tif file, a map that I downloaded from USGS, and it is not referencing in the correct location. It keeps referencing at (0,0). The steps that I took were:

1. Workspace-->Preferences-->Raster Manager-->Georeference--> I set the units to feet and checked the box 'Use Sister File, if Present, for Georeferenced Files'

2. Opened 'Raster Manager'-->Attach Raster-->Chose .tif--> Set Geo Priority as 'Sister File' (since that was an option)

Once it's attached, I choose the correct coordinate system, but the raster references at (0,0).

I have tried changing the units, attaching he raster as an 'attachment'. I feel like I have tried every option and I am not sure how to get it to reference I the correct location.

Does anyone have a solution?

Cross Sections series not being divided up to 5 to a sheet

I am Not all that familiar with the Cross Sections Dialog box.  I must be missing a setting that limits the number of cross sections placed within a border cell before inserting another border cell to populate with the next cross sections.  This what I got so far.  I don't understand what is the queue for InRoads to start another border cell and populate it, is it some range or region that is set some where or is it just the number of cross sections that is the trigger?

Open Geopak drainage (.gdf) in Inroads Drainage

Storm drain network was done in geopak, however am not very familiar with geopak and only use Inroads Storm and Sanitary.

I have the geopak .gdf file, but can i open it in Inroads?  That is, can I import geopak drainage  file into Inroads?

ORD - What happened to the vertical aspect of a style constraint from SS2?

In InRoads SS2, In a template, I could set a style constraint for a point to be horizontal, vertical, or both. In ORD I am only seeing the option to set a Horizontal Feature Constraint. What happened to the vertical option?

[OR SS4 .878] Create Template interface: Display Rules in the Active Template listing looks like it allows the user to make an edit; instead, it doesn't save the edit

The only way to make an effective change to the display rule is to go into the component options, click to edit the display rules, and modify it there.

Is this a big deal? No. But it's annoying, especially when there are no cues to tell us that it isn't working other than simple trial and observation of error.

As long as the user isn't expected to make a change in this interface, visual cues such as greyed out text fields and no "OK" button should be presented to the user.

Edit: I have to take part of this back. Apparently other parameters of the display rule can be changed and saved, but the value that it's looking for remains unchanged.

Exporting Inroads SS3 preference file (.XIN) and uploading into Inroads SS4

I have a new laptop and loaded SS4 on it. I have SS3 on my older Laptop. I have exported (I think) from my Inroads SS3 the preference file that I was using for survey points and codes. Levels had already been setup in SS3 and I have opened an existing file into SS4, all levels are there my preference are not, so data is not showing up. I tried to import my .XIN file but I did not do it correctly or something. I'm just trying to get what I have set up in the older laptop into the new laptop. even if I change preferences in the new SS4 it's not letting me save them. Any help would be appreciated.

.net error on file close with OpenRoads Designer

I started getting this error today with OpenRoads Designer while I was trying to learn how to migrate my old workspaces over to the new structure of CONNECT. I don't know if I somehow caused this or what's going on.

It's not related to any specific file. The message comes up when I go to File>Close. Then when I open another file I get this error. 

Has anyone seen this before? What should I do to try to fix it? I have also included a text file of the details that go with the first error.

Microsoft .NET Framework error in SS4 when using point controls

I have been having the following error when running my corridor.  

If I remove all point controls the error stops showing up.  As soon as I add a point control back in, the error returns.  I have shortened the corridor and removed all other corridor objects.  I ran "fix" on geopak in the control panel, with no improvement.

Does downloading anything from .NET Framework do anything?  If so, there are several options, which one to use?

Hi,

Just wondering if someone could help, we're looking to carry out a project involving utilities and want to handback the files with asset ID tags on them - the kind you find on the class editor, I just need some info on how to put this into Microstation or if someone knows of an another way to do this, the kind of info we want added is in the picture at the following location https://www.bentley.com/en/project-profiles/2016/ccjv_a5-m1-link under drainage example, so if someone could help point me in the right direction that would be great

Rail Track / Inroads - Drafting > Place Plan Note : Computed Values

I want to be able to place a "Drafting > Plan Note" (linked to an alignment) that contains (for example) the following information; Radius, Arc Length, In/Out Spiral Length, etc.  However, the "computed values" under Plan Note > Inserts does not contain predefined computed values to achieve this. 

Is there any way to add alignment geometry variables to the "Computed Values" list in order to extract this to the Plan Note?

Openroads Concept station. Issues with the visualization tab in new release.

Hello,

I have an issue with the new release of concept station. The visualization tab on the left is not available. Pressing on Tab does not work. Someone even suggested closing and restarting in visualization mode but that has also not worked either.  any help will be most appreciated. Thanks

How to split a component in InRoads?

InRoads SS2

I have a pavement section that I need to split into two separate components for left and right side shoulder reconstruction. The only way I know to accomplish this is to delete everything on one side, then completely reconstruct the now missing side. Is there another way?

Help button never gets me Help

While in the Create Template dialog, clicking the Help button gets me a blank help box.  How is this fixed, with a variable?  Not sure what is the cause.

Export Feature styles from SS4 to ORD

I can't open de SS4 "Feature_Definitions_Metric.dgnlib" in ORD to export the Features to *.XML format.

See warning and the Export function to XML won't work
