The 3D Linear Elements were create by Project Profile by Slope, which assigned a name and style to the Profile, but not to the 2D complex chain. Attempts to Assign a Feature Style and named were fruitless and sometimes threw errors.
What I was able to do, which worked as a good work-around, was to generate a Profile Report which also exports the horizontal alignment data as "Unnamed".
By selecting the LandXML Report style sheet, I was able to make a LandXML file which allowed me to import and rename the geometry in the ALG. These is no way toe export this back to the original DGN file and retain the original rules.
However, since my needs were to create a new file and Import from Native to rebuild my surface components, this is OK.
But, since I can use Land XML with an Unnamed horizontal alignment, why not allow an export to native of Unnamed alignments and simply name them Unnamed with an increment number?
