CUSTOM OPERATIONS IN SS4 MIGRATE TO CONNECT?

$

I am going through the Migrate steps to import my XIN file from SS4 into Connect.

I have followed all the steps and it appears my Survey Codes did come over but...

I had created Custom Operations for every Code which placed a symbol, point number, elevation, description, and notes.

Where are these Custom Operations in Connect?

How can I review, modify, add Custom Operations?

How can I add a new Survey Code when we need one?

When I click the 'Cross Section Labeling' button, I get the error "Job number cannot be found in the active directory." and prevents me from labeling cross sections.

I am trying to label cross section that I already have drawn.  When I click the 'Cross Section Labeling' button, I get the error "Job number cannot be found in the active directory." and prevents me from labeling cross sections.  Anyone familiar with this issue? I'm running SS2.

Profile Labeler - Scaled, incorrect elevation

I'm using Power Geopak V8i SS10. Very new user.

I am trying to label my profile, I select my chain and my profile and when I set profile settings. I set my DP where the X & Y axis meet and make sure that the reference station and reference elevation is correct. My vertical scale is 10:1 so when I go to label my profile it has the incorrect elevation. Right now, in profile settings; the horizontal and vertical scale are set at .001

Another quick question; Is it best practice to label in profile dgn? or in sheet dgn (profile dgn referenced in)?

Is there a way to export feature definitions from Inroads to an .xml in the same way that can be done for Openroads?

OR 10.9 - Plan Note with Active Profile Elevation

I have created a note for plan annotation, one of the fields shows the active profile elevation.  Problem is that when I run tracking on the alignment I get a different elevation than what is shown when I place the note.  Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Drainage and utilities - Extract Utilities from graphics

Hello

I'd like to put a 2D utilitiesmodel into 3D by extracting the graphics.

There are a few issues I see:

  1. It isn't possible to add a diameter to the 3D element. It is possible through the description, but that is unlogic
  2. It isn't possible to add the owner to in this screen. When the 3D element is made, the owner can be added. I have a lot of owners. It should be easier to do it intelligent.
  3. When the 2D has Item Types or Tags, this information is not copied to the 3D element. That information can be usefull to create our notes.
  4. The nameprefix cannot have variables like levelname, date/time or username.

In other words. I'd like to adjust the conversion of this tool, where I can add these elements by myself. Probably the fastest way? Does anyone have a sample program to access ORD? (from a SDK project for instance)

There are many dialog boxes in openroads connect edition that open behind the main application. These boxes take the focus and I usually have to use windows task manager to close OpenRoads.

Thanks for the help.

Existing Cross Slope Report

I have had this problem occur every time where I run a existing cross-slope template to find slopes/lengths of my lanes and it appears correctly in cross-section view however when I look at the corridor report the numbers do not match. Is there a solution to this problem? I feel as if I have tried every possible option and am lost on what to do with it.

I'm attempting to label the slopes of a channel/ditch, for some reason I can't get ORD to recognize the points. I can't label the slope or just the points. I even narrow the selection down to those points, but it doesn't find them, any ideas I could try out?

Annotate Level Difference on Cross Section Drawings

Hi there,

I am a Openroads user. I am trying to annotate level difference between proposed and existing levels on cross section drawings.

I have changed the annotation groups under dgnlib file as below, but no change made in my cross section drawing production.

Anyone can help on this?

Survey reduction issue

My working units are set to “US Survey Feet” and my survey file (.sdr) is in survey feet, but when I reduce the data, Openroads thinks the survey data is in Feet and converts all my survey data from feet to survey feet. Due to this, all my survey points are shifted horizontally, yet my elevations are correct. I’m using Openroads connect v. 10.09

if I change my working units to “Feet” the coordinates match up. Is there anywhere to tell Openroads the incoming data is already in survey feet, and not to convert it?

We are trying to import shape files into Open roads but we keep getting an error when we try to import or reference in. This process worked in In-roads no problem but we can't do it in Open roads. Any in-site would be great.

Clip corridor at civil cell

I'm using Power Geopak V8i SS10. Very new user.

I am trying to clip my corridor at the basic T civil cell I have intalled, I thought I could just mask my corridor but the intelligence will still be there and show up at on my proposed cross sections. After reading forums it appears as though in project explorer you can go under civil cells, right click terrain model and select "Add corridor clipping boundary". When I do so, nothing happens? Is it because my terrain model is not the correct/active one? All of my civil cells have Terrain Model as: Side road Pvmt, which is where I had civil cell tie to.

Just trying to get my corridor clipped so my cross sections don't show sidewalk going through the intersection.

Thanks for the help!

With Adobe Flash Player Deprecation, How will Users View Learn Server Videos?

I cross posted this on the Learn Server Forum. Not a lot of activity over there.

Adobe announced that the Flash Player was being retired/deprecated and recommends its removal. Once that has been done, the Learn Server Videos cannot be played. How will this be addressed?

[ORD] Sharing profile-view dgns

$

I'm working my way through my first project with ORD, and am struggling a bit with profiles.

I used ORD to create plan-profile sheets using my ORD geometry, corridor, and drainage files.  I am working with another department that provides their own plan and profile dgns in order for me to add them to my sheets.  Their profile dgns are drawn using generic MicroStation tools.  In the past I provided them GEOPAK SS2 dgns of my profiles that were drawn with a 10x vertical exaggeration using a GEOPAK Profile Cell.  They would reference this in to a blank file in order to draw their profile information.  I would then reference their profile dgn back into mine, which would then show up on plan-profile dgns created by GEOPAK SS2.

We did the same thing with plan-view dgns.  Both worked very well.

My question is:  What is the preferred method of sharing my profile drawings and sheets so that they can continue providing their profiles for my to include on my sheets?  They are not using ORD, so their files are basically "dumb" CAD files.  Do they need to draw and annotate them at a non-exaggerated view?  Or can they use my exaggerated drawing models as references?  How are their text/notes handled with ORD's vertical exaggeration?

From what I can tell ORD handles the vertical exaggeration dynamically, rather that with fixed vertical exaggeration like GEOPAK SS2 does.  This creates difficulties when sharing files like I described above.  I need this to be explained to me.

My past workflow only used design models, not drawing and sheet models.  We would share entire-project dgns: some for plan-view and some for profile view.

The new process for plan-view drawings works fine as is.  I just need the profile workflow explained.

Thank you.

Field book not visible in multiple dgn files within same workspace - why?

New to ORD...I created a field book for a survey (2D) base file to develop existing topography in a specific workspace. When I go to another dgn that was created within the same workspace and go to survey within explorer the field book is not listed. Can anyone tell me why that is?

DTM Surface check points to TIN report (ORD)

Hello, I’m following up with my previous post from June of 2020. We are still looking for a solution. I wonder if anyone found a solution for this.

Is there any setting that needs to be changed to turn on point name / number in the “Terrain Check Report”, so it would be easier to find a point in the drawing (after running this report) that is out of tolerance? The report produced still shows XYZ of the check points, DTM surface spot elevations, and elevation difference. It still does not show point number / name for spot check points. We generated report by using Survey Menu --> Points --> Analyze elevation. Then we selected terrain model outline and entered vertical accuracy value, which resulted in the attached report, but point name is not included in it. Is there another way to generate this report? See also screenshot of software versions that we have currently installed. Thank you
