Terrain element template

Trying to make a terrain element to simulate what I have in civil 3d. And I have a problem.

I want major and minor contours to have different linestyle from level.

I have place hidden. But I cant find a way to control linestyle parameters as in general settings. And without scale factor hidden appears as a continuous line.

The only way is to make another linestyle or control it from the level.

Is there a way to linestyle parameters directly there?

Else what the point to select a linestyle in there?

Levels not loading & Descartes Error

Hi,

I have two issues.  The first being that when I launch OpenRoads Designer Connect Edition (Update 1). I get a message saying "MDL Loader: Could not load application dcartes".  I have found the directory that has it based on the MS_MDL config variable but the path to $(MSDIR) which equals "C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition\OpenRoadsDesigner\" is where there is a Descartes folder should I just take that part out of the MS_MDL config variable.  I didn't previously include a similar path before ORD.

Secondly

I am unable to access any of the levels that are established in my level library.  I have both the MS_DGNLIBLIST and MS_LevelLib config variables set up

the MS_DGNLIBLIST when viewed inside ORD shows both the pre ORD path and the new path of the file( \wisdot\dgnlib and wisdot\dgnlib_ord)  ;

but the actual .cfg file only shows the path of      > $(_USTN_WORKSETROOT)/wisdot/dgnlib_ORD/*.DGNLIB

So why is the extra location appearing and why am I unable to access the levels that are located in a dgnlib within that folder?

If I open up the dgnlib all the levels appear there correctly.

Thanks,

Neal

Bentley Drainage Options

I am looking for a summary of products that Bentley offers on design of drainage systems. I have been searching but find nothing that tells me about the computational differences and workflow for designing with GEOPAK Drainage, InRoads S&S, Civil Storm, StormCAD, etc.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

VPI profile generator

When using the Geopak VPI profile generator, seems to me there used to be a way to adjust the size of the circle that appears dynamically at each VPI point. Is that gone now?

Also, is there a way to turn the fill of that circle on or off? On my workstation the circle is open, on a co-workers it's filled.

How do you change the profile generator ball?

In the past, the ball for creating profiles in the profile generator was able to be changed so that it was hollow or smaller. I can't find the tool bar to do that anymore. Is there still a way to do it? Pic attached.

Thanks

How do I create a clipped terrain model in OpenRoads? Are terrain models always created in the 3D model?

Geopak Cross section error after equality in a profile?

$

I've been running geopak cross sections using the same profiles and alignments just fine, but decided that I needed to switch to making the shapes instead of a tie=0 offset, to a PGL chain tie. When I made that switch, the sections won't run past the equality on the profile and chain, and it's reporting back there's an error in the profile.

This profile is references in a shape with the parameters?

baseline = I-66

profile    = I66_WB

Tie         = 0

pgl chain  = I66_WB

This shape intersects the current pattern at
            coordinates 11804733.9453 6997773.3180
This error typically occurs under one of the
            following circumstances:
               - Profile is of insufficient length such that the
station is outside the limits of the profile
               - Profile is improperly stationed
               - An incorrect profile is referenced by the shape
XS-E-CNCE Cannot calculate elevation at point with coordinates
          11804722.532488, 6997819.941444

This worked fine when I had the shapes defined without the PGL chains, but as soon as I changed them....this.

[IR SS2] Get profile elevation at EVEN stations - not at interval

$

When I generate a profile elevation report, the dialog asks me for an interval, but it does not ask me where to start that interval. Apparently, it just starts at the beginning of the profile and then goes however many feet after that. This is not what I need.

I need the beginning station and elevation, then I need elevations at every EVEN +00 or +50 along my profile, until I need the end station/elevation.

Not +10 & +60. Not +32.56 & +82.56.

In Geopak, we had the option of Even {distance} or Interval {distance}
Apparently in InRoads we only have Interval???

Can someone help me figure out what to tell InRoads so that I can get a report of the data I want the way I want it???

Hello,

When ever I try and capture a google earth image from within microstation it brings it in with its own terrain taken from google. The problem is I have my own terrain model and the elevations do not match up. I have tried to swap about the settings with the view terrain tick box and altitude mode but I have not been successful.

Any help?

[IR SS2] Label Profile Grade in Cross Section?

$

I may have asked it before, but I'm not finding it.

I have a stretch of roadway where a curbed median appears and disappears. The profile grade has been determined to run along the gutter line besides the curb, and morph up to meet at the center of roadway when there is no median. (Yes, I know, it's funky - mine not to question why)

I need to label my profile grade lines on my cross sections. And I am at a loss how to accomplish this.
Someone already went through and annotated the center elevation, but that's not the profile grade.

I would think it has something to do with the features of the proposed surface, but when I go to Annotate Cross Section, there are no features listed for that surface. Not sure what that means or what I'm missing. I suppose I could label the elevation on every break point of the surface, but that's a LOT of deleting unwanted labels when I only want one (or two).

Am I on the right track? Am I overlooking a setting or something? If my features aren't in my cross section (to be labeled) how would I get them there? I don't need to show anything except the text.
All the time and training on templates and Roadway designer hasn't really helped my plans production capability...

Thank you.

ORD - Duplicate Complex Elements from Corridor

Hi,

I updated the point names on some templates and after synchronizing the template, the corridor models correctly however the previous point name and complex element still exists in the drawing. So I'm left with multiple slope stake lines throughout the corridor. I've tried Process Corridor and that doesn't help. Any other ideas?

OpenRoads SS4 to Navisworks Quantities

$

I am at the start of a new project and we are using OpenRoads SS4, primarily using the template and corridor tools to create longitudinal objects like retaining walls, sea defenses, roads and footpaths.

The client has requested we deliver a Navisworks model so quantities can be extracted and for interrogation purposes. I am able to import the OpenRoads model into Navisworks for interrogation. But something I cannot work out is, what is the best method of exporting the model out of OpenRoads and into Navisworks, so that quantities can be extracted?

Many thanks in advance,

James

InRoads SS4 Template Library Lost When File is Closed?

$

I have a user in my group operating InRoads SS4 that's having an issue with his template libraries.  Whenever he exits his design file and reopens it and goes to the "Create Template" menu the template library he had attached previously is no longer attached.  The Template Library box in the menu is empty.  Within the Create Template menu he must click on File -> Open, navigate back to the desired template library and reopen it.  While still in the Create Template menu with the library now open he has tried clicking File->Save and then prior to exiting the design file itself has clicked Save Setting.  Still when he gets back in to the file and goes to Tasks->Civil Tools->Corridor Modeling->Create Template and the menu opens the Template Library box is empty again.

Other users are not having this issue.  When they get out of a file and get back in the template library still shows up in the Create Template menu.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks.

Geopak Pipe Profile

I'm creating pipe profiles using geopak drainage and its giving me two elevations and showing my pipes not tying in at the same elevation. The elevations match up in the .gdf file but they aren't plotting that way. I've plotted multiple profiles and some will plot correctly while others do not. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks!

Custom Survey Data Parser in Civil Survey

$

We have a custom parser used to convert our survey files format to an FWD format. In InRoads (SS2 and SS4) this parser works, and import a survey file using the import survey function in InRoads. The custom parser was added to the xin file so that our users had this as an option for importing our format.

Now, in Civil Survey, I've found how to import files, using whatever formats are predefined, and it appears that it is intended to use custom parsers as well in the Civil Standards/*dgn/project settings/survey/settings. I currently have these settings:

Use: True
Vendor: User
Title: CompanyParser
Filter: *.csv
FileTypeIn: RAW
FileTypeOut: Intermediate
Executable Path: (Blank) - it is located in (ProgramData\Bentley\Civil\SurveyTools\8.11.9\en\Data), same as survey.exe
Executable: CoParser.exe
Arg1: (Blank) - Previously tried adding survey.tiw, no luck
Arg2: (Blank)
Arg3: (Blank)
ProjectionNameIn: (Blank)
ProjectionNameOut: (Blank)

Below is the line from the xin file that is currenly in use by InRoads Survey:
<SurveyIMPEXP ItemName="CoParser" FileType="0" Program="CoParser.exe" Title="CSV Parser" Filter="*.csv" Arg1="survey.tiw" IntermediateFile="c:\temp.fwd"/>

I'm not able to find and documentation for setting up this backend and would appreciate sharing.

Ruled Stations for Dynamic Parametric Constraints

$

Hi all,

Although using OpenRoads for a couple of years, I have now been made aware that Parametric Constraint stations can be ruled. In formal training and even looking at the documentation it has always been stated that they are a static data entry method for corridor manipulation, so we never ever really looked at it.

Does anyone know of a way to change a parametric constraint station snap rule once created (other than manually changing chainage entry to remove it) or even view what they are? I think this may have been the cause of many previous corridor loop issues we have experienced but could never tell because there are no snap rule graphical indicators like for geometry?

Plot OpenRoads Profile Without Exporting To Native

$

Hello,

I am using OpenRoads in MXROAD SS4. I am currently looking into plotting vertical profiles from designs via a method that is more friendly to new users and doesn't involve the traditional MX tools and plugins.

I am currently using the method of assigning MXROAD definitions, exporting to an MX model, and using the Longsections (Pre XM Edition) Plug-in. While it works, it is rather roundabout and requires recreating the OpenRoads terrain model using traditional MX tools. The method is rather roundabout and time-consuming. Is there some kind of alternative? Perhaps a VB macro I can utilise?

OpenRoads Designer Connect, Update 2

I am trying to create some Profiles via the "Place Named Boundary Civil Profile", after selection the Profile View I can see where the profiles will be cut. However, all I get is the following message:

Boundary will not fit with given parameters. Change Profile Height, Windows Clearances or Profile Shift Location.

Detail scale = 1:500 ( I have tried other scales, same result)

I am using the delivered WorkSet,   any Ideas ??
