Contours elevation

Hi!

How can I set the elevation ("Z" value) of contour lines that are sitting at the 0 zvale in 3D file (attached in the end of this question) using the OpenRoads Design CONNECT Edition tools. In the PowerInroads SS4 there was a tool called "Set elevation" or additional tools "ModZ" or "CivilTools" (both are not working in the OpenRoads). Is there a tool in the OpenRoads for setting the "Z" value of contour lines or any other element?

I'm aware of the tool "Profile By Constant Elevation" but this tool is slow and is not practical for setting the "Z" value of many contour lines.

Best Graphics Card for OpenRoads ConceptStation?

We've recently started utilizing OpenRoads ConceptStation heavily, but using our 2GB R7 250 GPU is taking quite some time to render anything. Money is not an issue, I just need to know what Graphics Card is best utilized in this process. If had a card with 11GB of VRAM would it take full advantage of that? Do the Quadros have an advantage over the GTX series? Does CUDA core count matter?

Microstation will not save user on startup

I recently switched to Microstation SS4 and am having some issues with the preferences saving. 

Upon start up of the program, it will default to the "examples" user every time no matter which user was used last.  It will also only save Microstation preferences (ie mouse configuration, dual screens, or auto table settings) when working under the "examples" user.  This is an issue because I need to set up a personal user and have the local DOT as the project.  When I am in a created user .ucf with the DOT set as my project, it will not save any Microstation settings.  Upon closing Microstation, the date modified will update on the .ucf file I have created, but the next time I enter Microstation, all of the settings I configured will be lost.    

I have tried deleting the "examples.ucf" and force it to start up with the user created .ucf, but it gives an coding error and will not start up Microstation until I restore the "Examples.ucf".    

Is there any way I can set my Microstation up to start up and save preferences with the .ucf file of my choice.  The "examples" user has no value to me because it does not have any of the DOT configurations which I work in exclusively.

Superelevation at an intersection

I have a 2% normal crown running through an intersection and then used the Insert station cross slope several times to get the 'warping' to match the cross street.

2% NC > .8% SE through the intersection .8% SE > 2% NC

Once you use this tool, do you have to update the SE somehow?

Because when I go back to the cross sections, it just shows the typical 2%.

For example, STA 9+18 should be the beginning of the .8% SE, not the 2% NC

(Template Drop) Construction lines in sheet views or sheet model view

How do you turn them off?  They are off in the default model that the named boundaries are in.

In the sheet view, it says Constructions are off in the view attributes menu... but there they are.

In the sheet model view, it says Constructions are on, but when I toggle them off... nothing.

F7 does nothing.

Automating workflow to ceate terrain model and export to .dtm format

I need to create terrain models and export to .dtm format. I created a vba script that will do this, but it accesses the Create Terrain Model from Point Cloud tool, which opens up the dialog window. Is there a way to just access the assemblies directly? InRoads seems to crash quite easily when I'm trying to automate the workflow.

I can switch to .NET, if it would be more reliable than VBA. I found the tools described in the Civil_Tools_SS4 help file, but am having trouble figuring out what to use in either VBA or .NET as the sdk documentation isn't very clear. Perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong place.

Cross Section Sheet Composition and ProjectWise

I am trying to use the Cross Section Sheet Composition tool with ProjectWise and receive the error "Unable to open sheet file pw:\path and file name".  When using the tool I have the drawing open that contains the cross sections and the sheet dgn is read-write.

I have the option to detach existing sheet and place all sheets in active model.  There is only one model in the drawing that contains the cross sections and the sheet drawing, both are design models.

Please help.

Drainage GEOPAK cross sections

Hi, I have being trying to cut drainage structure cross sections but I have not being successful. It seems to me there is an issue when setting up all the files Proposed Cross Section tool requires. My question is, is possible that since my design is in 3D the tool is not working as it is supposed to. If that's the case please let me know how can I fix this problem.

ORD Losing section surfaces when switching Visible Edges

Hi all,

We've generated Sections using OpenRoads Designer  (Update 2) and need to change our Reference Visible Edges to Cached from the default Dynamic setting to Merge to Master for export to a static DWG. The problem we have is that we are finding SOME elements (Terrains) disappear when we switch the setting. This doesn't occur on all sections, just a few. There is nothing apparently different between these sections.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Unfortunately i'm not very experienced in the use of Visible Edges in Microstation.

openroads conceptstation - poor imagery quality

I have a question regarding static imagery quality. I just downloaded piece of terrain using geocoordination services and was quite surprised with the poor quality.Please see below is a screen grab of what the software produced. Questions

1. Where can I find syntax of xsl files? There are some files in /XML Data/EN and someone created that files!

2. Where can I find variables used in xls files? I mean for Example

Why Do I have Memory Problems?

I have continual issues with memory. I have 64 GB of RAM with a 2.60 GHz PC running on Win7 Pro. I have up to 12 corridors that are all under 4MB. The terrain is 100MB to 200MB.

I get shut down every 30 minutes or so with memory errors. I have only essential applications running on the system.

Are there any settings that I can check to improve the issue?

Power Geopak causing C drive storage full?

Hi, I am using Power Geopak. I realized that my C drive storage is getting full. I don't install any softwares last few weeks. Note that, it is a new laptop with 150G space 2 weeks ago. The only one software that I am using is Power Geopak. My question is: Does anyone have the issues of power geopak/SS4 that causing the C drive storage full? Especially while it crashes. Thanks

ORD - Complex Redefine Troubleshooting

Is anyone having issues with complex redefine not working for certain alignments? I need to replace a tangent section with two sets of reverse curves at each end of the new segment. The arcs were drawn per tutorial videos, tangent and all. The complex redefine won't work, it keeps the original tangent section along with the new segment. Should I be looking at the alignment settings for the original line in the explorer window? 

Given that ORD doesn't have alignment editing commands that InRoads has, it's critical for redefine to function.

SUE: how to omit the standard fittings for conduit in 3D models?

Hi All,

By defining and using the standard circular or box'ed conduit in SUE, the 3D-model automatically creates the fittings, like this:

how could I omit these fittings, so the pipe will extend to the "joining" point?
