Hi All,

But the problem is when I select the Project folder it should also select subfolders automatically. But it is not getting selected. I need to select each folder manually. See image below.

I am running version 10.00.05.99. I have tried several times over the last week and keep getting this error on the terrain download. I have tried different locations and different coordinate systems that would work in my area and keep getting the error. It will download imagery but it won't show up since there is no terrain to drape over. Please let me know if there is a solution to this.

OpenRoads Designer 10.01.00.15

I have starting getting the error: "OS could not load C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition\OpenRoadsDesigner\Descartes\mdlapps\dcpointcloudapp.dll, error 193."

The file exists and is in the folder as shown in the error message.

If I reinstall the product then the error goes away for a while but eventually returns.

Has anyone else experienced this?

SUDA 3D structure problem

Hi all,

There is a problem in my OpenRoads 3D as shown below:

It looks like something between the top and the bottom is missing. It works with ORD. Since ORD has not been released update 2. I am working on InRoads to make it work. Everything else works well now except the 3D inlets structure. I opened the 3D and 2D cell dgn files. Nothing wrong was there. So, why did it show like this and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

InRoads SS2 - Drape Template Point

InRoads SS2

I am working on widening an existing road. The existing road is rather basic and simply has a left edge and a right edge. The existing road width varies. In some areas I am widening the left side and in others the right side. The amount of widening is variable. I would like to be able to have a point in my template match the actual existing left edge of the road - in both elevation and XY position. I don't want to make any changes to either edge of road - just widen it. This surveyed left edge of the road is in my surface (.dtm). I would then like to have an additional point (Widen Point) whose parent would be this draped point. I can then use point controls on the Widen Point as needed. Please zoom in on the attached PDF for an illustration.

In other words, I want to be able to tell a point in a template to match a 3D breakline that is a part of my surface (.dtm). The 3D breakline would have a specific name in the surface. I don't even know if this can/should be accomplished with a template. I saw that a template point can set a surface as a constraint - but it seems to only apply to end conditions.

My initial thought was to utilize Site Modeler (.gsf) but a coworker thought InRoads Roadway Designer could accomplish the same task better. If there is an alternate way to accomplish this with the Roadway Designer that would be great.

I appreciate any help on this.

Geopak Survey database lost

We started a new office this year, and since moving into the new office our Geopak has not run as it did in our home office. We got this big project and had to store hundreds of inverts into Geopak. We noticed that the inverts would be in Microstation, but not all would not be in the gpk file the next day. So, we would have to restore those inverts, this went on the entire time we worked on this project. When we would process the survey files, 5 would process fine and the 6th would not store in the gpk file. Even though it would go through the process and visualize the elements into Microstation. In fact you could edit the data right after you processed it, but a few days or a week later, that whole run would be missing from the gpk file. Out of about 100 files I processed, about 6 files didn't store into the gpk file and had to be reprocessed. I have had several projects that this has happened with and it is getting frustrating. Now, our issue is that another coworker keeps getting "database not found" messages after continuously editing point elevations. It can be within 30 minutes to 1.5 hours after starting. He has to completely shut Microstation/Geopak down and then restart everything. We have moved the gpk file from the home office server, to a drive on the the local office "server", to the employees C drive and he has gotten the same "database not found" message. I have gone back to our home office and worked for 3 weeks without a problem, and then came back to the new office and had the worst week ever. I thought (and still do) it was network related until the C drive gave the "database not found" message. Has anybody else experienced the same issues using Microstation V8i (our version is 08.11.07.443) and Geopak (our version is 08.11.07.615). These are the versions we have to use for the DOT we do work for. Thanks for any help you might offer!

Detailing Symbol Annotation Scale Appears To Small When Placed In A Drawing Model

I am using OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition and am placing detailing symbols (Section Callouts, Detail Callouts...etc.) in my Drawing Model and would like to adjust the scale of the annotation associated with the callouts.  The scale of the annotation that comes in with any callout symbol is less than half of any other annotation (dimensions and so forth) that makes up my Drawing Model and is very difficult to read when plotted.  The scale of the graphics of the symbol appears fine.  It's only the text of the callout symbol I'd like to enlarge.  I've looked in the DrawingSeed.dgnlib file as well and just can seem to find where to make this adjustment.  Can anyone give me some advice?  It'd be appreciated.

Support and Training material for PowerSurvey

I would like some support, training material, or advice for PowerSurvey.  I have looked in the help contents, and the "power survey contents" of my program, and at Bentley institute training, and the contents of each doesn't seem adequate, or even completely applicable.  For example the help contents for my newly installed PowerSurvey SS4 is for MicroStation SS2.  I was a Bentley software user at the DOT for many years, but used different versions of MicroStation and Geopak and then PowerGeopak, and I am now trying to learn how to get PowerSurvey setup with appropriate settings / interface, and use this for processing survey data and creating terrain models, drawings and plats.  Any help or advice would be appreciated.

IR SS4 - Best way to send files without design data

$

I have a project consisting of a plan and profiles with sheet models.  I was asked to send a package with all the files needed for the project, except of the design files.

So what is the best way to strip the design data from my files?

In Inroads SS2 it was easy because every thing was just drawing lines, without any data.  But in SS4 I'm using my corridor and geometry files directly as reference.

Is there an easy way? I have try saving as DWG but it create a bunch of lines that need to be erased for the corridor and also for the geometry files, not super user friendly and time consuming also.

I'm looking for a solution for SS4,but is ORD better?

Thanks for your help everybody.

Utilities not Shown in Drainage Profile

Hi all,

I was hope to display the utility crossing in the drainage profile in ORD but that function will not available until next release. So, I am trying to use InRoads to do this.

Style manager was activated to create the utility styles before the process. Basically, Two utility lines are crossing the storm pipe as shown below:

In InRoads Drainage, these two utilities were created and shown below:

However, when they were not shown in the drainage profile (see screenshot below):

Any feedback is really appreciated.

Saving Visualize (LumenRT) perspective/point of views

Can I save a perspective/point-of-view that I set up within the Visualize mode (within Lumen RT) so that if I return to the Conceptualize mode of ConceptStation, make some changes to the model, and then return to the Visualize mode, I can immediately return to the same perspective/point-of-view I had before?

[ORD] Questions on the OpenRoads Wiki Page on Migration to ORD

https://communities.bentley.com/products/road___site_design/w/road_and_site_design__wiki/36226/inroads-ss2-migration-to-ord

I've done some preliminary testing of the tools as demonstrated on the above link. The process opened some cans of worms for me.

  1. Is there no use for any Text Settings created as element Templates from the XIN conversion to Element Template XML.
  2. What about Survey Features? In Ss2 and Ss4, Survey linkage seems to be maintained by a variable as opposed to the linked XIN which can be saved in a DGNLIB. The local DOT has provided a DGNLIB where the features include Survey Features using Native XIN settings. When I tried upgrading a copy of that DGNLIB, I got linear feature definitions but no points. I do not know the exact process they used to create the DGNLIB, but the results were definitely different. My file only was using Linked XIN. We use the same XIN from the DOT for both Survey and Design, but have to link twice to get design and survey features. But then we get sequence numbers for almost all of the survey features, which is a non-starter. We cannot have two different feature styles to represent what is for all intents and purposes the same feature. My work-around was to have two DGNLIB's - one with only the linked XIN and the other with only the survey linked XIN. If the surveyors created a file, it would get the survey versions and if a designer worked with that file, it would use the internal feature definitions.
  3. If we had any feature definitions in the default display mode of the xin which were not for use in plan, or not for profile or not for cross section, is there any reason to not remove them from the element template settings? For example, we might have used the default settings for plan and had profile and cross section settings. During the combining process, we copy default and then the appropriate other settings. So our profile or cross section display might have a default mode that is really only for plan.
  4. Is there any plans on creating a PDF guide of these steps? Even though I have watched the video and followed the process, I seem to have to stop start and rewing the video a lot at each step and a pinted manual would help us not miss and steps or get criss-crossed in the process.

Parametric solid to parametric cell

I'm trying to create parametric cell from parametric solid in ORD 10.01.00.15 with no success. Anyone from Bentley users faced any problem with that? Is this functionality implemented already in ORD? Or it will be soon like sight distance analysis? Of course I'm aware of my incompetence but I'm trying...
