Overlay with Widening Template

I built a template using the out of the box components in ORD.

The horizontal feature constraint is Linear\Misc\Matchline and is toggled on.

I have that feature drawn into the default view (representing the existing edge of pavement) where the corridor is.  I cannot get the corridor to 'see' this feature.

I have added it as a corridor reference as well.

Are there any resources to help with this task?

Modeling driveways raised curb vs lowered curb

Parametric Constraints will do this but how do you pull it off on just one side of the road?

I'm sure there is a faster way but it seems pretty easy to just do a bunch of copy and pastes in the Corridor Objects window and then just edit the stations for each driveway.

Is there an automated workflow?  New at this....

ORD Annotate Model tool Problem

Hi,

When using AnnotateModeltool, I find that no matter what annotation group I select, only the first annotation group (XS Grid w/ Annotation) takes effect.

What’s more, I delete all the other Cross Section Annotation Groups in Feature Definitions Metric.dgnlib file, except for my own group, XSANSE_Pave type 1, see the screenshots below.

And I have checked, there is only one Feature Definitions Metric.dgnlib file in my environment, and I have deleted all the Annotation Groups definition in other dgnlib files.

In my design file, Design Model.dgn, I can not find any Annotation Groups, even applying Cross Section Annotation Groups, and even re-opening the project explorer.

So, it is a big problem for the sheet annotation.

How to solve this problem?

It is the ORD Update 1 version.

Specifically  I do not think it is an efficient way to communicate via this community, Could you please  give me an email address of ORD technical personnel?

Thanks and look forward to your reply!

ORD - Update 1 - Still unable to upgrade SS4 Civil Model

I'm sure this has been asked somewhere else, but when are we to expect our SS4 civil model data to be upgraded to ORD civil model data.  Our department really can't begin the transition to ORD until this is possible as we maintain active projects for years and it's not feasible to switch between ORD and SS4 everyday.

Thanks

Problems with Lidar and Terrain Model

Currently trying to use Lidar data (.las) from the state of KY to make an inroads DTM. When trying to import into inroads SS2 the coordinates and elevations are way off. I tried to import in SS4 using the "Create From File" civil terrain tool. This will bring the data in correctly coordinate and elevation wise, but I am unable to filter out trees, buildings, etc (iso lidar with trees.jpeg). Finally, I've imported using point cloud tools and ended up with the same mess as when I imported from SS2 (iso point cloud and plan point cloud jpegs). These files work fine for the client who uses ArcGIS. They also provided .lasx and .lasd files. Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ORD Intervals remain after Trim/Extend Connecting Element deleted

Hi all,

In ORD I am noticing that Intervals that are created by the Trim/Extend of connecting elements are left in place after the trimming element is deleted - this wasn't the case in SS4 which means now Intervals need to be manually removed. Does anyone know if this is intended or a defect?

Corridor / Template Error

Good afternoon,

I am trying to run my templates through the corridor, when I get this error:

"Error - Corridor Template: There is no profile for this template corridor"

I first noticed this when I went to apply a vertical point control to the proposed grading point on the outside of my MSE wall, but it didn't change anything. And now I keep getting this error when I process the corridor and I'm not sure what it means.

Let me know what is needed to further diagnose the issue, if needed.

Thanks,
Ken

Survey Feet - DWG To DGN - Issues with coordinates/conversion

Since a lot of the information on referencing or converting a dwg to dgn is outdated, is there a new recommended workflow for dealing with the survey feet/international feet issue? I am working in a DOT workspace's seed file and have survey done in AutoCAD that I need to design from. In recent years, local jurisdictions have had their own scale/rotation procedure but that is dependent on the project location.

Thanks!

Hi,

Horizontal profile alignment is moving from the existing path after drawing vertical profile. But we have connect the conduit between the 2 nodes exactly on the existing path.

Brown and Magenta colours are existing path

Black colour is the conduit (horizontal alignment) which I have connected between two nodes.

I have modelled several Drainage Network in MX Drain. I would like to cut sections through my design model and include the drainage within the xsections. Is this possible?

[OR SS4] Prompts Need Improvements

$

Over my years of having to jump back and forth between Autodesk and Bentley software, I always felt that Bentley's command prompts were always superior to the Autodesk prompts. Too many of them were "locate element", even if the command was going to need a selection of more than one element and that the selected elements are used for entirely different purposes and the selection of them in the wrong order would result in no solution or an erroneous solution.

However, over time, that is proving to be less and less true. I should not have to open the help document on a command to know the proper selection order of elements, nor should I have to get a few steps into a command before discovering a prompt that finally explains if my selection sequence was proper, or reversed.

As an example, I just used the Station Base report. Within InRoads, this was a dialog box driven command so it was very clear which elements were the base line and which were the offsets. By necessity, the open Roads version must be a command prompt driven workflow, but the initial prompt is an all to generic "Locate Element".

How hard would it be to have this be "Select Baseline Element". Once a user has blindly guessed what type of element to select, the next prompt is much more self explanatory: "Locate First Offset Element". Only now do we have a clue as to the type of element we should have selected in response to the initial prompt.

There are quite a few commands in Open Roads where the prompts could be improved to remove any doubt as to the proper selection order to use on the command's workflow. It is also possible that certain MicroStation command could use similar improvements, but that's a post for a different forum.

[IR or GPK?] Create DTM from station/offset/elevation?

We just got a text file of points consisting of station, offset and elevation. I was told to use this information to create a DTM (or TIN). Yes, I do have the alignment stored.

What is the fastest/easiest way to accomplish this? I have PowerInRoads SS2 & SS4, as well as PowerGeoPAK SS2 & SS4, so whichever software has the better tool for this assignment
I'm sorry, it's Monday...Thank you.

ConceptStation Export

In trying to "export to DGN", ConceptStation stops working and kicks out of the program. It will export the other "Civil Project" files, but not the DGN. Is there anything I may be missing on this. I was able to export in early versions of ConceptStation - this just started with the v5 release.

When we import a raw and control file from Lieca Viva TS 11 , I am getting all features connected to each other. I know what setting to use in old InRoads but the same settings doesn't work in SS4. And other question I have, is Project Explorer and Native Inroads box still don't talk to each other? and if they do , what setting I have to use.
