RE: IR_SS4: "Cannot transform this Element because it has a Rule"???
I was able to create a complex shape with your workflow after I removed rules from all of the civil ruled elements in my model.
I would double check that you are not selecting the referenced line instead of the copied line by turning off the reference. If you are still having problems, upload your data and I will take a look.

IR_SS4: "Cannot transform this Element because it has a Rule"???
I have copied some elements from my model into another file to create a clipping boundary for one phase of my maintenance of traffic. Unfortunately, I cannot link/join them into a complex shape because "Cannot transform this Element because it has a Rule".
Remove Rules does nothing
Deactivate Reference Rules does nothing
Drop Element -> Application Element does nothing
For cryin' out loud...I get that Rules are a good thing. But sometimes I really just need a dumb copy of an element. There has GOT to be a way to strip the rules off, right? Or is this where I have to create a couple of different junk files just to save/export out a dozen lines?
Seriously - how do I get the Rules deactivated or eliminated?
Or is there some arcane InRoads/OpenRoads tool that I can use to join them into a complex shape?

Geopak Drainage and Project Wise compatibility
I'm trying to analyze the networks in my Geopak Drainage project. However, every time I do so, I get the following message:
If I hit okay, I get this message:
I am not having this problem when I open files on my company's normal network. I only receive these error messages when trying to work with files in ProjectWise. I've seen online that sometimes these messages show when you don't have proper access to the folder Geopak Drainage wants to save the data to. I have (triple) checked, and I do have access. I'm wonder if the program isn't fully integrated with Project Wise. Can someone please let me know how I can set up what files the data is saved to?
Thank you!
RE: InRoads (SS2) Template Point Order Error
And as Chuck mentioned, have you turned on the surface triangulation in the Roadway Designer to see how that is being developed at each cross section? It might help you hunt down what is happening.
IR SS4 or ORD - Civil horizontal Geometry = how far do you go using all the Tools?
I'm asking this because I jst did my first full geometry using only the horizontal civil Tools. The project is define by 4 roads that converge to one big intersection, more or less 250 x 250m wide. And after a good amount of crash I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep using thoses Tools for this type of work.
So for thoses who have try this what is the limit that you found? Cause the Tools have a LOT of potential but when you have to erase half your work to move a PI to avoid crashing your not saving much time.
Thanks in advance for sharing.
RE: Plan and Profile Generator - Title Block Data File
Plan and Profile Generator - Title Block Data File
Hi,
I am working with 'Plan and profile Generator' tool from yesterday. I have problems with updating information in a title block.
Reference filecontains border and title block cells with attached tags.
I created .dat text file for values in title block, but it doesn't seems work at all. The title block is empty in each sheet.
According instructions/tutorial which I found online everything should be fine.
No idea where is the issue.
Best regards
Agnieszka
RE: InRoads (SS2) Template Point Order Error
InRoads (SS2) Template Point Order Error
I am having trouble with a template, the order in which the points are being connected is out of sequence and does not follow the constraints. It actually seems to be following the order of point selection when using the NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons in the Edit Point dialog.
This template is just constrained components, no end conditions to check for. The individual components were imported via graphics, then constraints edited to follow design criteria. Once the components were combined and constrained to each other, applied the template to a corridor and created multiple surfaces.
I verified the naming of the points and the alternate surface name it applies to, no crossover there. When displaying the template, it looks correct both in component display and constraint display. When the corridor is processed, the display is correct as well. When sections are cut, the top component is connected to the wrong points.
In the attached PDF, the first page shows the xsecs, one labeled with the desired template, the one above shows how it is processed. The following two pages show the template designer and the roadway modeler displays.
Have searched for a while now and not found anything for point ordering in templates...
Thanks in advance, Mike

RE: Choosing between Microstation or Inroads SS4 for opening ProjectWise DGN files
Choosing between Microstation or Inroads SS4 for opening ProjectWise DGN files
I am the test case for our company moving to Projectwise / Microstation / InRoads SS4 for use on Windows 10. In using our client's ProjectWise servers, I am trying to find a way to choose to open .dgn files in either Microstation or Inroads. Since InRoads SS4 can no longer be invoked from within Microstation, but must be selected before executing the program, I was hoping it would be possible to add another "Program" for InRoads (the ustation.exe plus command line switches) so that I could select to open it "this particular time" in InRoads, but leave the association with Microstation.
I know that you can change the association for a particular file in Projectwise, and that's a long workaround (change the association to InRoads, work on the file, exit, change the association back to Microstation V8i) but I am hoping there is a method to add another selection to the "Program" selection list under the "Open With" dialog.
RE: Can multiple users open, write and save an openroads template library at the same time on a server?
RE: InRoads (SS2) Template Point Order Error
Mark,
I did add PI rounding, though it did not help the bad templates, it did smooth out the turns. You can see the results in the cross section shown in the PDF.
As for the surface triangulation, it did not show the same results I am getting in the cross sections, still looks correct in the modeler. Shown in the PDF.
I don't know if this is affecting the template in this case, as it is not setup for any end conditions. This template is just being overlaid on the survey line for contractor reference. For construction purposes, the bay bottom in this area is extremely soft and the stone will be placed until it reaches a stable elevation, displacing the soft material in the process, so no excavation or design bottom limits are shown for the template.
I have attached the files as well, reduced as Chuck requested.
And Mark, funny thing, this is on the same project we were discussing last year for the import of hydrographic survey data...

Can multiple users open, write and save an openroads template library at the same time on a server?
It seems logical that this should work but I'm testing with another user and doesn't seem to work.
