I was looking this yesterday and came to same the conclusion and method you have advised.
Is there a tool in ConceptStation to assign the profile of a Proposed Road existing ground elevations? Effectively drape the profile on existing ground?
If yes, that would make the process you suggest for Josh much easier.
I couldn't find one yesterday.
A suggested enhancement would be to allow the intersection tool to accept the roads generated by the geocoordination service.
Most (if not all) new roads need to join into an existing road...
