Let's say I have a tangent profile grade from Sta. 25+00, elevation 350 at a 1% slope. I have another from Sta. 35+00, elevation 370 at a -2% slope. I want to construct a tangent grade between each of these. I want it to intersect the first grade at Sta. 28+00 and the second grade at Sta. 31+00.
First, I can solve the elevation using math: 350+(2800-2500)*0.01; 370-(3100-3500)*0.02. But then when either profile grade changes slope, I have to change that end manually.
So instead, I can use Tangent Profile Line From Element from one end, and then from the other and tie them together that way, and that will track any changes to either grade. That feels a little tedious.
To reduce the tedium and widen the range of capability of profile tools, I'd like to suggest a new snap that would allow us to specify a station and then specify the element we want to snap to at that station. This new snap might also allow us to specify an elevation and then specify the element we want to snap at that elevation.
