RE: Extra Breaks in Cross Sections

When you cut sections, it cuts based upon triangles and those are usually from these. You can try setting a DTM Properties to "Use Features" on its "Advanced" tab.

This will show section lines and points as lines between where features cross the section.

An alternative is to display features on the sections - which are crossing points and can be assigned a style that draws on a non-plotting level.

Then when annotating sections, use the features instead of segments. This makes it so you can skip certain features from being used and if done is a series of commands, allows only annotating widths and slope at some locations but not others. VAOT has an InRoads manual online that covers a workflow for this approach. There is a leaf in the dialog box where you can select features to annotate or use as segment points. With feature filters, you can eliminate unwanted features from even being shown in the lists, making the selection of desired features easier.
