I have an alignment (to model an existing series of pipes) with a profile that is simply a series of lines. I don't recall exactly how I created it. I may have created it as one line, then adding vertices with the Microstation tool or possibly the OpenRoads tool.
Months since I had created it, I know now that there are vertical drops along this series. The first option that occurred to me is to break the profile element by Drop Complex. It succeeded in breaking the element into several segments, and it looks like the termini of each segment are independent, but when I move one terminus, the terminus of the adjacent element moves with it. I can flipflop all I want between the two elements. No matter what I do to one element, the vertex on the adjacent element moves.
To escalate things, I toggled on to drop Complex, Line Strings/Shapes, Shared Cells, and Application Elements. (The last one I really didn't want to do.) What happened is the segment I clicked is now a completely unruled element. I clicked an adjacent element, moved the vertex. The one I'd dropped moved along with it.
What's the solution here? Any possibility short of doing a brand new profile? Obviously it's something I can do; it's not a tremendous task, but it's something that doesn't really make sense to me.
