Can I import a .tot or .xml file as a surface without having to re-triangulate? I'm using Select series 2
Hi, in rail template, every time I try to modify the end condition material from grass to concrete the software crash.
I need this because I'm trying to show a rail on top of a retaining wall.
Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this.
We uninstalled Geopak Suite ss2, installed Geopak Site ss2, now the application menu is not showing up when opening Microstation as it had before. Configuration file is the same.
Windows 7 64-bit
Microstation 081107443
Geopak 081107494
When I add the Survey settings to my existing linked linear feature, coming from the Surface > 3D/Plan Line Segments, I can assign all of the same settings as the original Linked Survey Feature - Including the Native Style. Since I am telling it to use a Native Style in the Survey fields, won't it exhibit all of the settings stored under the survey feature settings in my XIN file?
Since I cannot get an explanation as to why it is necessary to link Civil and Survey XIN's separately, I will ask this question.
After performing the link in a DGNLIB, if we decide to reorganize the Feature Definitions into logical categories, can we also combine Survey and Surface features under a common name?
We use a single unified XIN file in Ss2 and are bringing it into Ss4. One reason we do this is so the survey features when exported to a surface, use the same style in the DTM as they did in the surface. It also reduces the locations where edits must be made when the XIN is updated.
So, after the two step linking process, many of our survey features are duplicates of linear features with the same name, except one has a 1 appended to the name.
Is there any reason that the linear feature with the property "Is Survey" set to False could not be changed to True and all of the other survey settings set to match the likes survey settings and to then remove the original linked setting?
And if we can do this, are there any other settings we need to investigate?
TIA
I am working in InRoads SS3 and am having difficulty with using "open cross section view" and "create cross sections".
I set the active terrain model.
Create an alignment using "complex by pi"
then "Open profile model", select the view to display the existing ground. Everything looks correct and the elevations agree with the terrain model.
I create a profile complex by vpi and associate it with the horizontal alignment. Still good to this point.
I create a corridor with a very simple template drop that is within the limits of my horizontal and vertical alignment(s). No error messages.
When I go to "open cross section view", I locate the corridor, then open the view and see my cross section, based on the template, but no existing ground line. Then I realized, if I zoom way out, the existing ground line is present however it is at an elevation of (-2,163,317.5345) and again it appears to be in agreement with the terrain model, just offset vertically from the design by over 2 million feet.
I am looking for some suggestions on what I may be doing incorrectly.
I am new to the OpenRoads/InRoads environment and am probably overlooking a simple step.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a way to not have survey features show up in the ITL file as a feature? This causes a lot of unnecessary clutter when trying to select a feature in a template.
Perhaps this is a bit of a wild idea, but what are the X,Y coordinates in your general area? I wonder if some wires got crossed somewhere in there.
Also, have a look at the reference list on all your models, but especially your 3d model. There might be a weird offset that you don't expect. I don't know.
Yes and No...
Yes, you can use both the Unsuitable by Feature and Unsuitable by Station options to set up unsuitable materials for the volumes for a given cross section set. However, it will not use both at the same station. The Unsuitable Materials by Station will supersede the Unsuitable Materials by Feature for the station where both are present. There is no way to utilize both options. This is documented in the Help for the Unsuitable Material by Station reference information.

This may have something to do with what version you are using. The most current is Select Series 4, v08.11.09.878. If you attach your dgn, I'll reproduce your workflow in the newer version to see if it resolves this issue.
Hello,
I've been trying to create an inlet cell for use with the Subsurface Utilities in OpenRoads (InRoads).
So far so good, except when the cell is placed I get a gap between the top and the bottom.
Global origins are the same units are the same, moving the top or bottom cells around their origins, or
moving the construction elements that are used to place the cell do not seem to make a difference.
What could be causing this gap?
Thanks,
Tom F.
