Constructing rectangular shapes from three points in OpenRoads SS4 survey
Hi
In OpenRoads Survey SS4(Inroads) is there any way to automatic construct rectangular shapes from three points if the surveyor brings only three shots instead of four.

RE: OpenRoads Survey Annotation Scale
It is still a bit unclear to me. So you have a survey data that you have imported in InRoads and OpenRoads, and the data mismatch with a 100 factor? "Our dataset" refers to?
What are the units in the files? You can change / set the units from "CAD menu > Settings Design file > Working Units". Make sure both the units are same.
RE: [MX SS4 W10] CAD data import issue
Hello Aleksander,
Thank you for posting your question in Bentley Communities.
I presumed you are trying to install MXRoad 08.11.09.878 on windows 10. As you have mentioned it's s new workstation then if you could install latest version of prerequisites 08.11.09.03 first then install MXRoad, it would be good.Have you disabled Antivirus while installing MXRoad ? I have installed the same on my system and it's working fine. Could you please share any snapshots for the same. Can you please check with run as administrator ?
In Meanwhile, please try the following.
1. Can you please check with UAC settings while installing MXRoad, it should be on " Never Notify" . Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings. To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.
2. Please try to Reset Configuration and Restore Default Settings. Please refer the attached word document for your reference.
3. Create a new project in new drive other than the drive you have created now.

RE: [MX SS4 W10] CAD data import issue
Hello Purva,
I've got no problems with installation - I'm working on MX SS4 under W10 for several days.
There is only issue while trying to import CAD data in it - just this tool isn't working.

[MX SS4 W10] CAD data import issue
Hello,
I've just got a new workstation with Windows 10 and MX SS4. While trying to import CAD data from master DGN into MX model I've encountered an issue with this tool. The import wizard isn't appearing (after confirming a warning dialog concerning a possible modification of drawing content) but it seems to be working somehow/somewhere (other commands in menus are faded as inactive just like in the moment when an other command is in progress). I've also checked it on another W10/SS4 units and the problem with this tool is shared.
Does anyone know the solution or I need to open a service ticket?
Best regards
Aleksander Zamorski

RE: [OR] CR - Add the Capability to Import the XML Design Input Report to "Recreate" a Corridor in a New File
[OR] CR - Add the Capability to Import the XML Design Input Report to "Recreate" a Corridor in a New File
The XML Design Input Report seems to be very similar to a Pre-Ss3/4 IRD file. Since it is now possible to import an IRD to build a Corridor, please consider adding the capability to import one of these XML files.
I am still learning Ss4 Corridors, but I am getting mildly corrupted files pretty regularly. None of my corridors allow me to open the Corridor Objects dialog box and I have had many orphaned graphics added to my files during an iterative design process. Some of these could not be deleted, forcing me to rebuild my corridor from scratch, using the report output as guidance. And fairly early in the process, new orphaned graphics began appearing (thankfully, these were not locked from being deleted) and the Corridor Objects dialog box was once again unavailable as it resulted in program crashes.
Being able to create an XML file to rebuild from would possible help this problem.
[OR] Issues When Working with a Derived Alignment
I have a looping alignment that I needed for point controls. However, since it loops, the software got confused as to which crossing point to use. So I tried to split it and now have two derived alignments from the original.
Now, I need to move the split point but cannot figure out how to accomplish this.
- I cannot seem to export the alignment only the original looping alignment exports.
- When I select one of the two derived alignments, it shows me the "apparent" endpoints of either half, but none of the handles seem to move the split point.
- None of the regular MicroStation tools seem to what to allow that manipulation.
I really need the horizontal Element tools in Open Roads!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
RE: [OR] CR - Please allow us to use graphical filter to create a terrain from a SUBSET of elements by plan area
RE: [OR] CR - Please allow us to use graphical filter to create a terrain from a SUBSET of elements by plan area
I suppose I still can. But if I go that route, it will involve breaking the elements down from civil features and such, doing a selection set around the ones I want to contribute to my terrain, then grabbing the elevations from them, then sending them through TIN processing, and then re-importing as an OpenRoads terrain. No part of that complies with the usual use of OpenRoads tools.
I'm not suggesting that this is my first observation that OpenRoads technology doesn't support this kind of workflow, but it is the first time I realized I should probably make a customer request for it. I had previously solved this problem by constructing by hand the terrain clipping boundary. That, too, violates the usual benefits OpenRoads tools often provide.
[OR] CR - Please allow us to use graphical filter to create a terrain from a SUBSET of elements by plan area
I have a gap in my corridor and I would like to create a terrain for the area south of the gap and another for the area north of the gap. I feel like there should be an easier way to get this done.
Currently I'm creating a terrain from a graphical filter, and that's coming out okay, except it spans the gap. So an obvious solution is to put a frame around the south end and clip the terrain there. What happens is that it clips the terrain at the boundary. That tells me that I need to orient the box I've drawn so that it will match the corridor. It also means that if I change the corridor in any way, I'll need to update the box.
What I'd like to be able to do is draw a box around the points that I want considered for my terrain model so that it won't attempt to connect across the gap in the first place.
It may be worth knowing that it's just one corridor to the south and to the north of the gap, so I can't just select the relevant elements and expect that to work in my favor.
Cross Sections not showing proper skew
I am currently working on a large design build interchange project. Our model is broken down into multiple corridor DGN files and then referenced together for a complete model. When cutting cross sections on an alignment, the fly over alignments do not appear to be skewed as they should be in relation to the alignment being cut. The fly overs are being modeled in OpenRoads as well, not the bridge package. My current version of Geopak is 08.11.09.872.
RE: Changing the default installation path for InRoads
Changing the default installation path for InRoads
We want to change the install path for inRoads so that it installs without the (Select Series 4) suffix as part of the path
We would like to use:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\InRoads\InRoads\CivilPlatform\ folder.
Would this cause any issues?
Thanks,
Simon
