OpenRoads Cut and fill volumes
Hello, I work for Fluor UK. We have recently upgraded from inroads to openroads.
The upgraded software seems a big improvement but is causing a few problems for myself on the fast paced project I’m working on. I was using inroads on windows 7, which was upgraded to windows 10 and openroads. Not good timing...!
Before the upgrade I was performing simple cut and fill volumes between a site design platform, drawn in 3D microstation and imported as graphics into inroads to create the dtm file. Survey contours also imported to create existing dtm.
I then had a 2d reference file covering the work breakdown structure (WBS) areas of the site. I was able to run the cut & fill volumes by selecting the element boundary of the WBS one by one.. a requirement for different contractors.
The design platform and levels have now been updated, so I’ll need to create a new design terrain.
I will then need to update the cut & fill volumes, can I do this in a similar manner to inroads, based upon the WBS boundaries..? I had a quick look but I couldn’t see where I’m able to select my boundary element for a WBS. Will I need to create features for the WBS areas..? If so, what’s the easiest way..?

OpenRoads - Profile Drawing seed - Sheet Model seed not found
Hello,
I am wondering whether anyone else encountered similar problem with Profile and XS drawing seeds where the Sheet Model seed model is not found.
Following the tutorial found here: https://learn.bentley.com/app/Public/ViewLearningPathWithMasterCourseExpanded?lpId=111346&mcId=111346&CourseId=119811&moduleId=119812 (chapter 7 - drawing production) I've created my DGNLIBs with profile sheet definitions and XS sheet definitions. I added the files to my DGNLIBLIST config variable, and I see them while choosing drawing seed when creating drawings from named boundaries. The problem is - the software does not recognize Sheet Model:

Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong? Or had similar problem?

ORD 2019 R2 - Suda - Model Builder - Using Bentley Design File (dgn) doesn't work
I've got a dgn file with lines and information (items like Invert in / Invert out / Diameter). This represents a drainage structure. I want to use the Model builder to convert this file to a 3D drainage model (depths, diameter, etc).
However, if I try to open this file in the Model Builder I get the message:
Loading Library: 'C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition\OpenRoadsDesigner\Subsurface\Haestad.DgnDb.dll' failed.
What am I doing wrong?

other than the name, isn't the unique level symbology suppose to change to the set level manager state, when the level is selected and active from the attributes ribbon? is there a on/off toggle for this?

Switching over to Windows 10, need files SS2 compatible
What versions of Microstation/Geopak are backward compatible to SS2 when switching over to Windows 10? See below software requirements from client (will need to provide CM workflows in Geopak SS2).

ConceptStation - Can you change textures on imported items?
If I import a dgn 3D model into ConceptStataion, Is there any way to change the textures on the imported elements in ConceptStation? It seems like this would be something the program should be able to do. If not in ConceptStation, how about LumenRT? Are we just solely dependent on materials being imported correctly?

Proposed ground not rpicking up all of the points from the corridor/templates
I am having the issue shown above with my proposed ground. I generate the proposed ground from my corridor but it is obviously ignoring some of the points. So when I pull elevations there appears to be no curb in some locations.
The thin white line in the cross-section view is supposed to be my proposed ground. But it is ignoring the gutter on the right and tiying into the top of the curb and doing the same on the outside left curb.

ORD Cross Section Intervals
Is there a way in ORD to cut cross sections at different intervals for an alignment depending on a horizontal curve/spiral verses a tangent? The cross section workflow appears to utilize the same interval regardless of the horizontal geometry object type.

Is Open Roads suitable for site grading?
Most of the projects we do involves detailed grading such as residential and commercial building sites and subdivisions. Does OpenRoads handle those types of projects? I've looked at OpenSite and concluded it needs more development.

Open Roads crashes importing a CAiCE .PT4 file
When attempting to import a CAICE .PT4 file ORD hangs up or crashes. I exported the data out of CAiCE into a .KCP file containing just points and a .KCP file containing just survey chains. The points .KCP file will import just fine but the chains .KCP file import will crash. After many hours of aggravating chain editing I have come to the conclusion that it is a chain list issue.
For whatever reason there are times that if I have edited a survey chain CAiCE will place the same point number in a chain list back to back. Can't figure out yet why this happens. Probably never will. The repeat points do not seem to be coming out of EFB through the .OBS file so at this point I can only assume that the double points appear during the chain editing process.
These back to back numbers show up in .KCP files exported out of the database as illustrated below:

How to Analyze Point on different alignments?
I am trying to find a command that is similar to Plan View Labeler in MicroStation where it will tell me which station I am at. I have read about the Analyze Point tool, but my alignment in my dsn file seems to be segmented between alignment labels and the Analyze Point command stationing resets for every segment. I am not sure how to fix that.
And how do you specify on which alignment you want the stationing? In Plan View Labeler, you were able to choose.

Pavement layer and subgrade Design(for existing pavement)
Can we mask strings (including master string) in Pavement layer and Subgrade Design (For existing pavement) option? I would like to generate cross section in which only service road strings required (only SR INNER-OUTER STRING, SR SHOULDER AND THE EXISTING PAVEMENT PORTION) . The pavement layers of service road are designed according to the existing layers there. we can do it in Pavement layer and Subgrade Design option but for Pavement layer and Subgrade Design (For existing pavement) i am not getting any reasonable method.

[ORD] Linear element at intersection of Multiple Terrains?
Hi all,
I need to get a 3d linestring (to define a retaining wall base) for the location that two terrain surfaces intersect. The only way I can do this quickly in ORD is to use the MicroStation 3D modeling tools.
My current workflow is to use the Modeling > Mesh > "Create Mesh from Ellements" tool to get a simple Mesh from each surface and then use the Modeling > Surfaces > "Compute Intersections" tool to get a 3d linestring at the points these two meshes intersect. I then use the "Plan by 3D element" tool to get Geometry and Simplify it if I need to.
Do we have any equivalent workflows using the OpenRoads tools to accomplish this?
