Geopak SS2 Input File Utility

Using Geopak SS2 and Microstation V8i I am trying to import an input file that I created from another gpk. Once created I renamed the job number and now it shows up when I click on input file utility from COGO. I cannot figure out why it is giving me an error when I try to load the input file. Does anyone have input on this?

Is there a setting I can change so that when I mirror my template component and toggle on apply affixes that it puts LT_ or RT_ on my constraint label?  Below is an image of what I want to be called LT_FG_Slope, not -FG_Slope.

LOAD A SINGLE CONTOUR USING ORD

In legacy products a single contour was able to be loaded from a TIN/DTM. This converted to a 3D line/spline.

Is there a tool in ORD to load a single contour?

ORD Exclude Meshes for IFC export?

Hi,

I'm testing out the new IFC export functionality in preparation for a deliverable (no need for AECOSim anymore), however I need to exclude some construction class meshes we have amongst the meshes I want.

Does any one know of a way to do this? Are there any features I can use to get them ignored (similar to volume calculations)?

Open Roads Designer Survey

Hi Guys,

I used to work in Microstation Powercivil SS2 before for importing my survey information. I used to upload all my raw data from my total station to Powercivil SS2 through Survey<Dataset<New and upload my .csv file into it. It used to create spot elevations as a text into my survey plan. 

Unlike from Powercivil, when I started using Open roads, I would create a fieldbook and click on import text wizard and upload my .csv file here which directly creates a terrain model. But it doesnot create a text for the elevations. I tried to create it through terrain spot feature but I am not able to copy the elevation text in each spot. Is there any way to import the elvations as a text?

What is New Bentley OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition

The following summarizes the new features and enhancements in this 2018 Release 3.

General Enhancements

  • Update of Power Platform to Update 10 CONNECT Edition(V10.10.00.28). The corresponding MicroStation version is (V10.010.00.23).
  • Includes Bentley LumenRT Designer CONNECT Edition Update 10.
  • Includes Bentley Descartes CONNECT Edition Update 2 (V10.08.00.27).
  • Update of gINT Civil Tools CONNECT Edition Update 1 (V10.01.01.21).
  • Support for following ProjectWise Connect Edition (V10.00.03.49) & (V10.00.03.140).
  • Optimized the loading of Properties dialog of mesh entities.
  • Least square method is added to the Transform tool.

Survey Enhancements

  • Resolved issue on custom attribute on survey overrides.
  • Fixed issue in Explorer when toggling on and off Feature definition for survey.

Geometry Enhancements

  • Locate Geometry Points via Points on Curve, Angle Resection, and Points of Intersection methods.
  • Added description to geometry points with LandXML Import.
  • XML Reports display geometry points' descriptions.
  • Table Editor displays K values, back slope, back tangent length, and allows either parabolic and/or arc defined geometry for vertical geometry.
  • Horizontal geometry in the Table Editor now displays columns for station, back bearing, back tangent length.
  • Added Report button and Design Standards Warning in the Table Editor.
  • Speed table displays maximum grade of vertical alignment.
  • Ability to Import, Copy and Project Speed Table information.
  • Allow the Project Profile to Element & Project Profile Range to Element tools now allow selection of elements from a reference file.

Modeling Enhancements

  • Create Cut Fill Volumes tool has been enhanced to use featurized meshes in the analysis. It is no longer required to create a terrain model for the proposed rough grade.
  • Performance improvements for Create Cut Fill tool.
  • The cut and fill <volume options> now have setting to define for cut and fill factors for the appropriate one.
  • Added ability to split Unsuitable material during creation of Cut and Fill meshes. This allows distinct values for "Removed Only" and "Removed and Replaced" unsuitable materials.
  • Resolved an issue where component display rules that would yield incorrect results.
  • Corrected corridor performance with specific data sets.

Drawing Production and Annotation Enhancements

  • Added ability to place cells (North Arrows) on Plan Drawing Models.
  • Vertical alignment elevations are displayed on plan alignment annotations.

Subsurface Utilities Enhancements

  • This version uses Haestad version 10.01.01.04 and includes the cumulative patch set as of 09/19/18.
  • Tabular annotation functionality is now available for Subsurface Utilities profile drawings. This uses Text Favourites, which can already be used for plan annotation, to provide both the value and the formatting for the annotation.
  • The 2D cell that is used to draw a node in plan is now drawn using all of the elements in the cell, including text, hatching, etc. Previously, only a subset of the elements that the cell contained were drawn.
  • If a storm or sanitary element is selected in the graphics, or anywhere else (such as the properties of a scenario) that displays information in the Hydraulic Analysis tab of Utility Properties, then this tab is now automatically displayed above the Subsurface Utilities tab.

Technology Preview Enhancements

  • Added a Geometry Builder and Editor to create parcels and plats.
  • Creation of a Mass Haul diagram based on the 3D prismoidal Cut and Fill meshes.
  • Create HEC-RAS format to export data for further stream and river analysis.
  • Export 3D models to IFC format. (Based on IFC4 schema 2 and the viewer needs to support that version.)
  • Add internal and single Station Equations.
  • Asset Manager.
  • Text Favorite Manager.
  • Export to MaXML.

InRoads SS2: Make manual edits to cross section quantities/areas and then update the report?

I am comfortable cutting cross sections using InRoads SS2 and then computing the cut/fill volumes and the quantity of different materials that were created with the design surface.  However, once these have been created, there are always some type of manual edits required for fine tuning the sections.

Is there a way to manually manipulate the cross section graphics and then re-run the report?  I use the "End Area Volumes" tab within the "Create Cross Sections" tool to create the report, and if I manipulate any of the shapes, after running the tool again, it reverts back to what was originally created.

I know a better work flow would be to go back and revise the model within the Roadway Designer; however, that is not always possible due with multiple people working through manual edits to the cross sections.

Can this latest version of ORD be installed over the existing ORD installation, or should the previous version of ORD be completely uninstalled and mopped up first? I couldn't find any sort of 'installation' guide.

Is there a way to remove the foot mark from the elevation text?

I have found if I remove the label from my working units it goes away - but is this the proper way to do this

Export Open roads file to AutoCAD

Since our client demanding AutoCAD out put files, I was trying to export cross section and profiles to AutoCAD from Openrads. I tried all possible ways but could not get a proper output. You guys have an idea Is it possible or any proper way which I have not tried. I have asked this question to some of Bentley guys unfortunately they could not comeback with a solution. If it is not possible, then there is no use for me to use Openroads software and go back to PowerInroads which does quite good.

Open Roads - error opening files

Since yesterday when I try to open an ORD file, the program does not load the file, or asks me to send an error report to Bentley. I have already uninstalled and installed again, but still with the same error, below the print.
Can someone help me?

Any BIM viewers work with ORD IFCs?

Hi all,

I have been doing some testing of the new IFC export functionality and am having problems finding ANY mainstream BIM viewers that can open it. I can appreciate it is IFC 4 Add 2 and not all viewers support that version, but does any one know of anything that does? I really need to be able to verify how non-Bentley products see the exports to use this for project deliverables.

So far no luck with Solibri or Navisworks 2019...

OpenRoad Designer 10.04.00.48 crash with Microstation Array command

Hi,

Can anyone prove this?

The program crashed when we use the Microstation Array command.

This only happens in the latest version of OpenRoads.

We have tested this on 2 different computers

In the previous version it worked fine.

MX - Run-time error 76 path not found - Help!

I have been using MX Road V8i Select Series 4 (first time in about a year) and a few times it has come up with a 'Run-time error 76 path not found'

I have to shut MX and restart, and I used it all day yesterday without the error appearing, so it appears a bit random.

Has anyone got any ideas how I can fix this?

[OR Ss4 Survey] Were not in Kansas Anymore, Toto... What's different from Native Survey Tools

OK, I've been posting some of these in drips and drabs. Now, we have a consultant helping us to work with OR  Ss4 Survey and the questions are starting to pile up.

I believe we have come to the realization that while many InRoads Survey Codes can be used, the entire workflow of editing is substantially different However, some clarifications may be needed:

  • In InRoads Survey, we had to use sequence numbers when more than one figure of the same style/code was being collected at the same time. Occasionally, during processing, we would have to manually add sequence numbers in order to get the figures to draw in an acceptable manner. Is there a way to add another figure or to change a figures's sequence number while in a session?
  • In InRoads Survey, adding an ST to a Survey Feature defined as a Point with no Line Settings (Joint to Previous, same Code & Draw Connecting Line did nothing. Using a JPT on a code without Draw Connecting Line enabled also did nothing. The prevented errant lines being drawn where none are expected. In my limited testing, adding an ST to the same codes, based upon a linked XIN will draw lines. Is this WAD or a bug? IMHO, it's a bug.
  • A number of the default Alpha Codes use a * as one of the characters - these are all Control Codes. Since we have to use the Space_Separated variable for our codes, can we eliminate the * and an the crews type in the code and the required number with or without a space or must we use a space?
  • BTW, I have figured out that the input sequence for adding or editing a JPT seems to be to make sure you press a tab key after entering the point number. Whatever I was doing wrong seems to have ironed itself out.

I may add to this as time goes on, especially if there are not much in the way of responses.

PS. The help files on Survey Processing are nearly non-existent and really need fleshing out.
