I completed edits to corridor superelevations through the superelevation editor. Once I closed the superelevation .dgn and reopened it, the edits were not shown. The edits were made in plan view.
Is there a step in the superelevation editor workflow to ensure edits are saved?
I am using Power GEOPAK V8i (SELECTseries 4) Version 08.11.09.878
After I installed ORD update 3, I have lost many functions. It seems like the design files are not linking to the *.dgnlib like GUI and drawing seeds. For instance, I have lost the view control to get preset view groups from the right mouse key. Also, there are no drawing seeds available under the Named Boundary function. I thought I set up the WorkSpaceSetup.cfg correctly, but none of these functions worked. I then commented out my individualized locations in the WorkSpaceSetup.cfg so that the program would default to the product delivered, but the problems presist.
Is there a quick way to find specific cross sections once they are cut and put on sheets in SS4?
I know we have the cross section viewer to look up and down the model in SS4, but is there something similar to the cross section navigator that was in SS2? When you cut cross sections with the new Openroads tools and use the sheet method instead of stack, you no longer have SS2 cross section cells so we cannot use the cross section navigator to search to a specific station.
Is there a tool to be able to quickly search to a specified cross section after they have been cut using the sheet method in SS4?
I have created a Point Feature Definition for a Stop Sign. I have made it so that the Point Feature Symbology has a Plan Element Template and a 3D Element Template.
When the Point Geometry is selected in the 2D model, I am given a Geometry Points group in the Properties dialog. This group seem to be the only way to control the point once it is placed. The information in the Geometry group in the Properties dialog won't update if changed in that group, only if changed in the Geometry Points group.
Since I asked in a different thread if there was a way to have Point Geometry with a 3D Element automatically place on a surface and was told that it's not currently a feature, I have to set the elevation of the Point Geometry in the 2D Geometry Points group. Otherwise, it won't stick if I try to manipulate it in the 3D model.
But, and here's the problem, when I set a rotation for the Point Geometry, only the 2D Element rotates ... not the 3D Element . And, as we said earlier, the Geometry information can't change the Point Geometry, so even if I try to manually rotate the 3D Element it goes back to 0 degrees once the command ends.
How do I get the 3D Element of Point Geometry to rotate also? If we can't do this then there's really no point to having a 3D Element Template for Point Symbology.
I've attached pictures to hopefully help. You can see the 3D Model is turned on and that it doesn't rotate with the 2D Element.

Hi all. I have been experiencing crash every time I select a corridor after selecting defining target aliasing in OpenRoads. I have attempted to fix the corridor in the file by using the repair relationship tool in civil browser display but it doesn't seem to work. Has anyone experienced this issue? If you have, how did you resolve it? Please advise.

I am creating a template in InRoads SS2. My question is how to create a template of a road whose subgrade has a varying slope when the road is superelevated.
The finish road is 2.5%. The subgrade is 4% initially. When road superelevates to +/-7% the subgrade maximum slope becomes +/-7% also.
I have a created one already but involved i think with a lot of workarounds so i am curious to know how experienced designers/modelers/engineers do this.

Can you tell from where i can turn the annotations off and on or decrease its size ? And also is there any file for annotation which i can set as per requirements so that i should not edit everytime i create any geometry ?

I would like to request for a help here please as i need of the solution. I have created a road template in Inroads SS2 which i have uploaded in google drive link below (700+MB due to dtm surface)

The problem is if the existing ground surface is within the range of the pavement layers, there is no end condition as shown in the road designer.
Points "Pave 1_R", "Pave 1_R1" and "2" will be controlled by superelevation controls which i will add later.
And you will notice a kink in the middle of the triangulated surface when you run the corridor. That is because the Cut subgrade is deeper compared to fill subgrade.
Also, components shown can all be disregarded at the moment. I just build them to match the superelevation that i will apply later. What is important to me right now is the subgrade layer as you can see in the roadway designer when you turn on the triangulated surface.
Appreciate any help on this will be much appreciated.

I'm trying to learn open roads and been watching the videos in your site. I'm used to Civil 3d surface creation by contours, is there a similar way to this in open roads? it will be great to have more videos or a training manual on terrain creation, because most videos there is already an existing terrain. We usually get our surveys in dwg files.
This is nonsense. Civil software should not interfere with my ability to do my drafting.
We have a project, with several people working on it. Apparently, someone got into my sheet files using InRoads (probably SS4) to do something, and now every one of my sheets is a "managed model". I am working in vanilla MicroStation SS4. I can attach references all I want, but I am not allowed to detach any of them. I get the "You cannot Detach a model from a managed model. The operation is cancelled" message.
I am not in Inroads. I just attached the file a few minutes earlier. but I'm still not allowed to detach it?? Because somewhere along the lines, someone with IR SS4 opened my file?
How can I strip all "design" information out of my sheets so that they can be drafted like any other sheet file without this "managed model" nonsense?
How do I UN-manage a model?
I know that I can start IR SS4 and detach the references in question. I shouldn't have to do that.
I shouldn't have to waste an InRoads license just to detach a couple of useless references.
Especially since the refs in question weren't even attached with InRoads!!
Please fix this so that the draftspeople of the world can get our jobs done.

I'm trying to edit a pavement mark file created by PowerCivil. In in MicroStation CE(10.09.01.01), I can open this file and select elements, but when I try to delet it, it says "No elements selected", but when I open it in OpenRoads Designer(10.03.00.43), it says I could only open it read-only.
Is there any way for us to edit .dgn file created by PowerCivil in OpenRoads Designer or any other CONNECT Edition softwares?
I have been a InRoads user for 30 plus years. I am having problems an issues with the version listed above. I downloaded this version to take advantage of cross-sections with components that cross the outlined grid. With this version they get clipped. All is well.
I have never experience these issue before
Here are my issues:
1.) Unable to add a surface to a set of existing cross-sections. The surface was created after the sections were cut and edited. The surface I created is a non-triangulated feature based model that has my all of my drainage pipes for display purposes. I have created Styles and preferences to have cells placed were the pipes cross the sections. I do this for utilities as well. I have used this method for a very long time now with good success. Now it will not work unless I re-cut the sections in another file or model view and reference the new sections to the old sections. Not good.
2.) When cutting sections with multiple surfaces (such as an interchange) with components, the components will not show up on the adjoining surfaces, just the top surface line. Sometimes re-running the model helps in the active session of InRoads.
3.) When cutting sections with the active surface and active alignment, my end conditions will not display. The end conditions in all of my templates are a "Parent" to a "child" which is subgrade component. The subgrade has different solutions associated with the end condition for my 3 solutions. A cut, an fill and a fill for when the solution is solved before subgrade can daylight to the fill slope resulting in the subgrade to "box out" vertically.
4.) We use ProjectWise CONNECT version exclusively for our 12,000 plus staff throughout the world. I am have access control issues with multiple users in the same .ALG file. I have set my geometry access to Read-Only where as the user will "check out" the alignment and check back in when complete. Last week we discovered the .ALG file overwritten by an older version. We lost some significant changes that we made to alignments and had to go back and fix.
I am not sure if the version is doing this or operator error. I think it may be the version......Hopefully.
I currently have requested thru my company a newer version (V08.11.07.615). It will be a few days before I will have it installed and find out if this was the fix.
If anyone has any comments on this I am all ears.

I was using Openroads SS4 Imperial and was trying to display the stationing on my horizontal alignment and I have looked at previous suggestions saying I should change the auto annotate to "True" on my feature definition properties but wasn't able to view it yet.Just wanted to view my stationing just as we would on SS2. I was hoping if you guys had any other suggestions. Would greatly appreciate your help.
I need a report that I think will be similar to Vertical Alignment Check Integrity.
I would like the columns to show the stationing for points on the vertical curve (PVC, PVT) and information about the curve (radius, and entrance grade). I don't need it to be a table. Something like this:
