Hi

The What's New section states that there is an enhancement for drawing production to draw slope indicators/tad poles?

I am digging for that tool in the Ribbon, Toll Boxes and can not find it. How to access this tools? Is it a feature definitione/symbology setting?

Must say that I was waiting for this tool for a while.

thanks in advance

ConceptStation--Editing Bridge Templates in version 10.00.06.45

I just loaded the newest version of ConceptStation on my computer.  When working on a new DGNDB project, I was humming along until it came time to put in a bridge in my model.  Like I've done in the past, I look for a template that comes closest to my situation, duplicate and rename the duplicate, and then edit it to customize the bridge template to fit my actual situation.  I immediately can see there's a difference in this version of ConceptStation because when I pull up the bridge template to edit it, there is now a red line running along the bottom edge of all the bridge elements.  I go about editing my new bridge template making my changes here and there.  But when I go to save my changes, ConceptStation will not allow me to save my changes.  The "Save" button is grayed-out and inactive.  I cannot save my edits I made of the bridge template.  What gives?

MossCust.ARX new version available?

I'm trying to open an old AutoCAD drawing which requires some custom MX graphic to open correctly. I have an old version of MOSSCUST.arx but this isn't compatible with AutoCAD 2017.

Is there a new version which would allow the drawing to open correctly? It currently looks like this, which isn't a lot of good!

How to create proposed Pond Basin surface from proposed contours

How do you create a proposed pond surface when you have proposed contours that tie into existing? The drainage engineer has laid out proposed contours which tie into existing contours and would like the basin to display in the 3D view and be shown on cross sections. I am utilizing OpenRoads in Microstation. Geopak 08.11.09.878 and Microstation v8i (SELECT series 4) 08.11.09.832.

Cross section grid automatic update to sheets from feature definitions

Hello, I am writing to see if there is a way to update our cross section sheets automatically after having changed our grid annotation group in the feature definitions file. When I try to create new sheet models in our .dgn and choose this annotation group in the dialog box, the cross sections still populate with the incorrect annotation group. I found that if I make a new .dgn file and create new cross sections, the annotation group takes affect. We have an abundance of sheets for different alignments created already and I'm hoping there is a better way to update these than to redo the .dgn's.

OpenRoads CE - Terrain Model Display Ignores Feature Definition

Hi,

Does anyone know why my terrain model automatically displays as triangulated?

I have no set feature definition during import and even if I do it doesn't appear to make a difference.

I am importing from a .fil and have been following Module 1 - Overview and Terrain video on the learn server.

Other info, I downloaded update 2 yesterday and prior to that I didn't have this problem. Also I've found that when placing geometry with no feature definition it appears on screen white. Previously when I set a feature definition like Geom_Baseline it would turn red or orange, it doesn't do that any more. It seems like my feature definition system isn't working properly.

Profile annotation group NOT populating in dgn correctly???

In OpenRoads, I have customized the linear profile annotation group to match our company and INDOT standards. However, when I create a profile in our .dgn, only some of the customization appears, and also some appear that I have deleted from the linear profile annotation group. For instance, I customized a text favorite within an annotation label to show VPI station, elevation, and parabola curve length under the top border of our grid. I removed the VPT/VPC labels along with many other out of the box labels and everything looks fine in the preview window of the editor. When I create a profile in our dgn, the annotation group populates the parabola curve length in it's default setting as well as the VPT/VPC labels, along with an elevation at the bottom border for each VPT/VPC which I removed, along with VPI points. The VPI is then show as more of a default setting, rather than the text favorite I created. Again, everything looks fine in the annotation group preview. I have made these changes in our feature definition file of note. Also, is there anyway to show a line type between the cardinal points circles between the VPI and VPT/VPC points? Very frustrating to see the profiles populate the way they did after feeling confident about the annotation group customizations!

[PIR SS2] Can I change a component into an end condition? Or should I use display rules?

I am trying to clean up a project to get it out the door. Of course, the person who worked on it previously is no longer here...Yes, I am watching videos, but I haven't found the one I need, or they just haven't answered all my questions.

I have a handful of templates that all have a paved shoulder with end conditions attached to find existing ground. As I work along, I've realized that I could accomplish what I want much more easily if the shoulder were actually an end condition as well. That way, I could apply end condition exceptions and a few other controls. Is there any way to 'back" my shoulder into being an end condition? Or do I have to create all that from scratch all over again?

Or could the bulk of my issues be solved with display rules instead?

The biggest (by far) exception I will need is for there to just be "no shoulder" at all drives and road approaches. For this stage of what I am doing, I need to just show the pavement lanes, and stop when I encounter drives or roadways. I have design features in plan view for those areas, and I thought I could just do it with a style constraint. Can I do that, even if the shoulder isn't an end condition?

if I drive those style constraints with null "seek" points, do I need separate points for left and right? Sometimes I do have approaches right across the street from each other, and I'm not sure how a single seek point would trigger both sides.

And I wish, I wish, I wish I could just copy components between templates. On my own project I could have set this up with template "pieces" that I could drag into any template I want, but I didn't set this up - I'm just trying to get it working.
Thank you.

Where is the Data Acquisition tools in OpenRoads Designer?

I use the Data Acquisition tools in SS2 to bring in Lidar DEM ground shots to a design file.  Then I delete all the points where I have survey and create an Inroads dtm with combined Lidar and survey features by importing graphics.  Where is the Data Acquisition tools in OpenRoads Designer?

OpenRoads Designer , Where to annotate coordinates, stations and bearing? Drawing model? Design Model? Sheet Model?

OpenRoads Designer

When creating sheets from named boundaries the software automatically creates a drawing model then a sheet model from the named boundary.  This workflow seems to work well and is pretty straight forward.  The problem I have ran into is the fact the drawing model references are rotated and sometimes moved.  So the world coordinates in the drawing model don't match the design model.  If I where to identify a coordinate value or bearing without using the "OpenRoads label tools" they would be incorrect.  Where do we label or annotate world coordinates and bearings?  I would prefer to do it in the drawing model.  Is there a setting or workflow to keep the drawing model references scale 1:1 , xy=0,0 and rotation 0 degrees?

Trying to stream Bing Map into ConceptStation but getting and error

I am getting the error  " An error occurred: Authentication token is expired. Cannot connect." when I try to stream Bing Map into my file. I can't find any documentation and how or where this needs to be configured for it to work. Also it seems odd that Update 7 now works without needing you to acquire and configure a token but ConceptStation does not. Who has this working, what if anything did you do setup-wise to make it work?

Thank,

Hi All,

Is there any way to create a bioretention template in OpenRoads so that profile and section view creation will be quickly done? The detail of bioretention shall include 6" ponding depth, 3" mulch, 2.5' filter media, 3" bridging layer No. 8 pea gravel, 6" perforated PVC underdrain, 12" No. 57 stone.

Any feedback is really appreciated.

Geopak Drainage profiles not saving

I'm working on a project with several pipe networks that all run correctly.  I've create drainage profiles for each network, plotted them with no issue and the HGL's all look good.  see attached.   I save the project and when I come back into the project, the profiles are no longer listed in my Navigator.  i've tried turning on and turning off "Create cogo and profile" and turning on and off "project to chain" in hopes that those options may be causing the issue but i've never used them before so not sure why they would.

as soon as i close out the drainage toolbar and re-open, the profiles are all gone.  nodes, links and networks all still there but no profiles.  anybody else have this issue?

How to set the proper style(s) to annotate random points in Cross Section

Good Afternoon Folks,

I am trying to create a Stump point that shows up in my cross sections and is populated with the following text:

EXIST. STUMP

STA. 147+00, RT 45.8'

24"DIA.

I have been able to get the "Stump" cell to come in at the correct location in my cross section.  But where in the "Styles" do I dictate what Attributes, Labels, Descriptions, etc. will come in from the survey field data (Attributes) to populate the "Stump point" when the Cross Section Annotation is enacted?

I'm sure that this has been documented somewhere but I cannot seem to find it.

Thanks, and have a Good Holidays,

"Save As" Limitations in Openroads ConceptStation

$

I guess I was expecting that the "save as" command would create a duplicate, fully self contained ConceptStation project.

However, what I have noticed is that the terrain model is not copied to the new project and repathed accordingly.  Rather the link to the terrain.3sm in the parent project is maintained in the child project.  This dependancy has the potential to be problematic if the parent project is removed / altered / deleted.

Work around seems to be to recreate the terrain in the child project as whilst I can physically copy the terrain.3sm to where it should be in the child project I can't find a way to repath the terrain link from within ConceptStation.

Would appreciate confirmation if this is what others have observed and whether it is what Bentley intends.

Hi all - I'm designing a roundabout in MX Road v8i and I'm trying to locate the MX Roundabout tool which I previously used in an older version of MX back a few years.

Can anyone advise if the tool is still available and if so where I might find it?

Many Thanks,

Fergus

some problems in using openroads designer

$

hello

I would like to highlight some issues i found in using openroads designer.

1. i realised that applying design standards in openroads designer does not give the warnings as was in the case of openroads in MX. i have attached an image of the same alignment in openroads in MX ( select series 4) and then openroads designer

2. i also realised that some default cells are missing from openroads designer. particularly the roundabout cells.

3. importing of survey points and the automatic drawing of features (field to finish for those who use Civil 3d or Calson software) is not working properly. infact there is no survey workflow in openroads designer update one. dont know if it has been updated in the update two.

4. for someone who has used civil 3d for sometime now, i believe that using civil civils to create intersections takes too long to process. if you are not lucky the software will crash. with the same machine and specs, i can create intersections in civil 3d with relative ease. i believe its something bentley has to look at. Not every student or professional can afford high end machines. A Decent machine with decent specs should be able to handle them with ease.

5. i may be mistaken or i havent explored that feature yet but i think the plan and profile production in openroads designer needs more improvement. one is unable to display levels say, exiting ground levels, design levels, horizontal and vertical geometry details, superelevation information and all.

6. and lastly, i dont knw if its bugs or what but the software care crashes too often, i can use civil 3d for a full day and it wont crash even ones but hardly can you use openroads desinger for one hour without it crashing.

machine specs

intel core i5 six generation, dual core 2.3Ghz with 8 gig ram and dedicated memory 4g nvidia graphics Geforce 940M

i find openroads designer very exciting and i am really fascinated with their 3d modelling and visualization capabilities which i think are better than the autodesk counterpart. but there are more issues to be solved and i hope the bentley team will read this and react accordingly.

ORD SUDA Nodes and Conduits

I have clients that use different mannings numbers for Reinforced concrete pipes.  Is there a way to create custom prototypes so that these differences can be accounted for?

Also, I am trying to bring all of my InRoads SS4 drainage nodes forward into ORD.  When I open my 3D cell library, I receive a warning that my file is read only because of SS4 data. I didn't realize SS4 info was stored in this cell library.  Do I need to redraw all of my node cells for ORD?  I cannot find any training info for ORD on building SUDA standards.  If there is a training somewhere on ORD SUDA standards, I would be grateful if someone would point it out to me.

Thanks,

Jason
