You might want to look at the frequency of your template drops. That might be an important cause of the differential in time it takes to process.
Assuming there is no difference in processing time when you have point controls on or off (which may not be true), a dilation from 2 minutes to 2 hours is a factor of 60. If your usual template drop interval is 50 feet, changing that to 1 foot would cause it to take 50 times as long.
