InRoads SS2
I am working on widening an existing road. The existing road is rather basic and simply has a left edge and a right edge. The existing road width varies. In some areas I am widening the left side and in others the right side. The amount of widening is variable. I would like to be able to have a point in my template match the actual existing left edge of the road - in both elevation and XY position. I don't want to make any changes to either edge of road - just widen it. This surveyed left edge of the road is in my surface (.dtm). I would then like to have an additional point (Widen Point) whose parent would be this draped point. I can then use point controls on the Widen Point as needed. Please zoom in on the attached PDF for an illustration.
In other words, I want to be able to tell a point in a template to match a 3D breakline that is a part of my surface (.dtm). The 3D breakline would have a specific name in the surface. I don't even know if this can/should be accomplished with a template. I saw that a template point can set a surface as a constraint - but it seems to only apply to end conditions.
My initial thought was to utilize Site Modeler (.gsf) but a coworker thought InRoads Roadway Designer could accomplish the same task better. If there is an alternate way to accomplish this with the Roadway Designer that would be great.
I appreciate any help on this.
