On a current Project, we are using a PW server that uses (allow) Windows Authentication. We are using the "Alternative workflow with ProjectWise" via the Variable Manager.
When logging in to Windows, the username is not case sensitive. Apparently, for most of ProjectWise, when using Windows Authentication to login, it is also not an issue.
However, what I discovered is my XIN was being checked out from PW, InRoads was seeing me under my Windows Username logged in with all lowercase letters, but also seeing the file as being checked out under my official PW username. The XIN file was therefore Read-Write to my PW user, but because InRoads was seeing me as my all lowercase Windows username, the file was Read-Only to me. In the Details dialog box, it showed my PW user having the file checked out as read-write, but for my InRoads username (all lowercase) and therefore to InRoads, the file was read-only. I could not even check the file in via PW and then in InRoads check it out (take Read-Write access).
To regain Read-Write access, I had to completely log off of Windows and then log back in, but use the mixed case windows login.
Interestingly, the official mixed case windows login uses a single upper case letter, but in the PW Messenger, the username is shown with 4 uppercase and 3 lowercase letters. But when logged in this way, InRoads and PW are in sync as far as what files I open and check out.
