Can you tell us more about your crashes with a brand new file? If it doesn't crash immediately, what are you doing when it does crash? Just moving your cursor across the screen, using an OpenRoads tool, a Microstation tool, doing a keypoint snap on an element, or what?
It sounds like you may get some troubleshooting or workaround help elsewhere on the forum through searches for Identify Elements Automatically and Disable Handles. They aren't linked, necessarily, but disabling Identify Elements Automatically and using Disable Handles have helped me troubleshoot various issues in the past. Note: Don't take this as a recommendation to never use handles or IEA, since the handles are essential to effective use of OpenRoads tools and elements created by them, but it is an important step you can take to troubleshooting issues or as a temporary workaround.
I've noticed a lot of crashes in the past related to the cross section viewer (the dynamic viewer, for what it's worth). But I can't think of any recent ones since I updated to .872 which you're also running.
If it really is the cross section viewer, consider following these steps:
- Create a new file with the seed file you've created recently and experienced a crash in.
- Open up the ObjectSpace Browser by using the key-in "civil display browser".
- Look for DynamicCrossSectionSpace. (It may take a while but it shouldn't take longer than a minute.) You shouldn't be able to find it unless your seed file has a cross section view built into it (and I would consider that irregular), but if you can find it, it's probably bad. Delete the entry or entries under it. See if there are any followup problems that you've been experiencing. If at least some of the problems go away, then you know now that your problem is in the seed file and you need to fix it.
I'm not sure I can help with anything else without further information that I'm not even sure to ask for.
