Oh, that is ridiculous! I'm sure it works - no worries there. Just ridiculous that THAT is an illustration of the lengths we may have to go to in order to get our work done...
I did stumble onto a solution. I was able to Drop Line Strings/Shapes, and the element "magically" unlocked and dropped to regular line strings which I could then edit. I'm sure at that point, all the intelligence disappeared, but I could get my project completed. But that was only the last action in a series of clicking and poking, so I can't confirm that was the entire solution.
I can appreciate the intelligence of the design process in OpenRoads, but it sure does seem to lack from a plans production (just get it done!) angle.
