What would cause an XIN file with many features and exportable components to show with no linked feature styles after using the link command?

And to complicate things, manually linking survey xin - even if it is the same xin, works without issue.

But then, I only have survey features and no line point or surface features.

I have done this before, but for some reason, this is not working on this file.
