Bearing and distances with line command.

I am a Surveyor and am trying to find a way to draw a line by using bearings and distances. In SS2 we had created a Macro that would allow us to do that. Is there a way in Open Road Designer to do something similar?

Is AASHTO 2018 Superelevation Design Standards available for InRoads SS4/10?

Looking to add AASHTO 2018 Design Standards to InRoads SS4/10.  I'm just a CAD Manager so I'm not completely familiar with the specifics of superelevation design.  Our designers are looking for the SEP files for 2018 AASHTO manual.

Thanks.

[MS SS4 Geopak SS4] ROW Line not Displaying in Cross Section and Template Drop not fully shown in Model

$

I'm running into a two issues.

First, my ROW Lines appear in the Cross Section Viewer (see image below)

However, whenever I go about to create the XS for my sheets, everything but the ROW lines are displaying (see image below)

Weird thing is, they happen to populate on my XS when I ran the sections in a previous day.

My second issues is in regards to portions of my template drop not appearing in the model. I have this ditch section I modeled however the backslopes seem to have mysteriously disappear also when I run the sections they are not there. See image below to see how it should look like.

However the portion circle tends to dissapear. Not sure if its a graphical issue or not as it seems to reappear when i restart my computer.

At first I thought the that portion of the template was set to 'do not construct' however the option is not marked

Any assistance or advice will be very appreciated.

Conic Slope in cut

Hi All,

I'm trying to use the Conic Slope function at the bottom of a retaining wall that is below existing ground. I can't seem to get the function to work in a cut scenario, it works fine when I force it above the existing surface (making it a fill slope).

I've tried changing the slopes to a negative value but this does not help. I'm using OpenRoads 10.08.01.33

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

IR/ORD - Calculating Drainage Areas

We tried loading a DEM based DTM into InRoads to compute contributing areas using the Display Source Areas tool. Unfortunately, the point based surface does not really lend itself to this tool. Too often, the triangulation algorithm forms faces that cut off what should be flow paths, due to the lack of breaklines.

Does anyone have a methodology that they found useful to identify contributing areas using other Bentley tools. If not with them, are there other third party tools that can filter out these types of obstacles?

Insert a realigned section into an existing horizontal alignment

If I have a 100km straight alignment and want to insert, say at chainage 60km to 80km a revised alignment (that is 30km but want to tie in to the same points at 60 and 80) that had been prepared as a separate alg, how or what are the steps to insert this revised alignment into the original alignment to replace the section 60-80km and also without losing the vertical IPs of the down stream alignment?

Object Enabler

I am trying to view a dwg file in OpenSite Designer that contains data created in AutoCAD Civil 3D.  Instead of seeing contours, all I see is point placeholders.  I have read here about object enablers and I tried installing the latest from the Autodesk site.  I still don't see the contours.  I have read that the object enabler version needs to match the realdwg version, but I cant seem to find that information anywhere.  I am running version 10.08.01.33 of OpenSite Designer.

How can i fit a tangential curve between two lines on OpenRoad Designer drawing? Thank you.

[ORD] Sight Visibility - reports' number accuracy

$

Hello

I was wondering - Is the user capable of changing sight visibility reports' numerical accuracy? Also - does anyone notice situations where ORD showed Achieved sight visibility for lines that are actually shorter than requied?

Currently all the results we are getting have 5 decimal digits - this causes inconsistency of results - see attached picture:

1st line shows us sight distance achieved as 59.99735 - which didn't pass the test of 60 meters.

2nd line - 59.99965 - which surprisingly PASSED the test of 60 meters

3rd line - 59.99807 - which didn't pass.

That situation brings up 2 problems:

  • HOW software compares numbers (differences <0.001 DO pass),
  • The user seem uncapable of changing accuracy of calculations - currently software calculates it with accuracy of 10 μm which seems irrational.

Difference between those three are less than 3 mm - this is (in my opinion of course) irrevelant. Accuracy of μm seems unreasonable for me - centimeters should be sufficent for those calculations - and if those numbers were rounded to centimeters all of those 3 lines would pass - without a doubt.

Can anyone tell me is there a possibility to change those accuracy settings? I mean - only sight visiblity line settings. I can change all the number settings by changing file's accuracy to e.g. 0.123 instead of 0.12345 (which actually changes also the tables' accuracy) but thats not the point for us - we need to keep 5 digit accuracy for our desings.

I've looked into XMLs and XSDs and its not there, Inroads schema is not helping. XSL config of accuracy helps only in reports with rounding the numbers but lines still are treated as Acheived/Not achieved.

ORD: 10.08.01.33 (2020R2U8)

Geometry Export.... LandXML, IFC? Topcon

I see that OpenRoads has the Export Geometry feature and have viewed the video demonstrating the feature itself.  Pardon my ignorance on the subject, but is the purpose of this feature to import the exported file for surveying purposes?  All I want to do if stakeout a particular feature?

Exporting the file was easy enough, but I cannot get my data collector to accept either the IFC or the LandXML file (ver 2.0).  Was it supposed to?  Topcon Magnet lists both as accepted file types.

Is the export geometry feature only for alignments?  Or can it be used to other feature definitions with associated active vertical geometries?

Is there a certain LandXML version I should be using?

Thank you in advance!

Components unexpectedly merge when dropping a template

I am using PowerGeopak SS10 version 08.11.09.918

I have created a simple boulevard template with separate components for the paved median, concrete curbs, asphalt pavement, and subgrade.  I created each component separately, and then combined them to form the complete template.  The screenshot below shows the template in the create template window:

Whenever i drop this template along my corridor however, some of the curb components merge with the subgrade component (curbs in yellow, subgrade in orange). See below:

Any ideas as to why this is happening?
